Translated and certified

If someone needs to provide the authorities with a "translated and certified" copy of divorce papers and a diploma, how do they do that?

Re: Translated and certified

By asking the authority which requests the papers what certification they will accept. The rest follows from there and is left as an exercise.

Pay for a professional translator to translate each document into the local language. Take documents to town hall. Watch them photocopy the documents. Watch them stamp and sign them. Pay money. Take them to the office where they're required. Be told you haven't got the right ones. Start a thread on EF. Rewrite the dictionary. Make Fridays great again.

Re: Translated and certified

I suspect it is related to an apostille.

http://www.internationalapostille.co...-an-apostille/

As to where and how, depends on where the events occurred. Best to ask the requesting entity.

Re: Translated and certified

LOL, this is so contra-dictive with what you wrote yesterday.

You solved it without any paper, and they believed you.

Ask them if they have any paper containing more info on what you have to provide, for a bunch of countries they have an informative paper containing the exact names of the documents in your language, and it includes the methods on how you can get them properly recognised.

If not it all depends on how the papers are handed out to you, if they can print international versions including stamps/autographs that should do, if they are only in your own language than you still need the stamps/autographs from your country and here you can get a certified translator doing a translation and giving it his stamp, perhaps you need to get a stamp from city hall to recognise the translator also.

Amanda,

I am not closely following your current threads, which appear to be hot and running in parallel.

Could you summarise the purpose of these translations, and their language? I have a few professional translation colleagues who might be proficient in assisting your case.

and tell them which words are acceptable to you within the document.
Best have a freelancer do it.

An other idea would be, set your google free to give you ALL possibilities as the one you need might be amongst the ones you banned in advance.

I just solved my case without any paper. It took me two and a half days, a few emails and a single phone call. All I sent them were four screenshots of the dictionaries.

They told me they would send me the confirmation.

It8217;s called people skills.

Amanda Portman

If you don't give timely responses to your posts which are seeking advice, then you can't expect a constructive response. We all have other lives.

When I seek advice through EF it's to get constructive input. And it's proven to be a really great resource over the years.

I gave-up several times over the past decades, as I didn't phrase my enquiries well in Internet speak i.e. a stranger requesting free advice from strangers with experience in my particular query. But learnt that if I constructed the question with good information, then I would most probably receive good advice.

If you don't constructively participate (no-one is requiring your identity), then why don't you provide the details required for qualified members to make a qualified response.

The alternative is really to pay for legal fees with a law company until you reach your desired level of understanding.

There are many EF members ready to provide assistance - it might not seem that way - but this is due to your lack of information that could provide the basis for any constructive advice.
