Property viewing scam Sonnegstrasse 8006

Hi everyone

Just for info - there is a property scam similar to https://www.englishforum.ch/housing-...wing-scam.html running at the moment.

A property in Kr6 Zürich was listed very cheaply (900k) for sale, then disappeared from immowelt.ch in one day. I managed to request the documentation before however.

Then an email arrived from Carmen Elena Sanchez (a gmail email suspiciously constructed as deleted ) stating that she is a civil engineer (from Spain), bought the property a year ago cash, now is in the UK with her family. Doesn't have much time to sell so there is an exclusive contract with an UK agency etc etc.

In order to organise a viewing, where the documentation would be brought by an international agent, i need to send her a photocopy of my ID (she attaches hers, which then becomes clear what she would do with my id in the future!). Oh and how would I like to pay - cash or financing!?

After alarm bells went on, i checked EF and found an older similar case, then I searched the address (Sonngestrasse 47,8006) and found that it was actually a place advertised for rent on immoscout24!

So, don't send anyone your ID and indeed, if it's too good to be true, do your own research...

Is there actually anyone that should be contacted in such a case to let them know of the scam? Maybe the advertiser of the rental property? In the end, not much can be done probably?

Seems to me the advertiser already sorted it.
And if it was not them - the add is gone.

Re: Scam stories

yeah there are certainly many loopies out there!

I still can't help but be just slightly impressed at how scrupleless and still ingenious and creative these scams can be!

It almost makes me want to start a conversation with this person just for fun and see what happens...reminds me of the hilarious TED talk "This is what happens when you reply to spam email"!

Yes, and all his PMs were removed.

Thankfully, a couple of people reported the PMs, so I was able to act as soon as I saw them this morning.
