Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

I want to rent a camper for a few weeks. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in that department? Nothing too big and fancy. Prices should be lower now. thanks. I don't really want to go to Germany unless it's really close to the border. thanks.

Here are a couple of links:

Vogel is not that far away from us and he seems quite serious. Can't really judge though as we have't used his services.

Mountain High has no particular reputation at present
Re: Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

We hired one from here before buying from them. Very easy to get to from Zurich. The train station in Jestetten is no more than a five minute walk from them.

Re: Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

Although this is an old thread, many people are re-thinking what to do for their summer holidays, so I'd like to add another link to a camper rental place I've just stumbled upon: Reka.

Re: Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

I would be very surprised if they are not all booked up for the next few weekends and the summer.

Booked from Europcar in Kloten. They have nice California vans. You can book them online, but best to call them to check availability.

Re: Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

A couple of years ago we had a VW Hippi Bus from https://www.vw-buessli.ch/

VW bus is quite spacious inside, we were family of 4 ( with big kids ) and could all eat, sit inside. Has a small 2 man tent as well for sleeping.

Our route went through Lichenstein, over the Arlberg and home through south Germany. Not quite a week, camping by lakes and the Neuschwanstein Castle.
The VW bus is slow on the uphills, you need to keep pulling in at nearly every layby, but keeps chugging along. Loves the flowing southern German b-roads.
We were hooted at by only 1 car !! A big ch Merc in Austria !!

We were saluted by .... lost count ... everyone else. Bikers, other oldies and young drivers in CH, A and DE.

End verdict 'The trip is not the destination, but the journey'
Absolutely brilliant trip.

Re: Good Place to Rent a Small Camper?

I have a question. Is it possible to rent out a private camper with renter having their own insurance?
