What do you do not like or hate in Switzerland?

Especially if you are an american. Not trivia like paid water in restaurants, but something what really made you feel uncomfortable.

The lack of cheap homone filled meat, brown sugar, and velveeta!

Re: What do you do not like or hate in Switzerland?

Certain foreigners who keep moaning about how rude, unfriendly, xenophobic the Swiss people are, how "the Swiss is always right" and how the foreigner is accused of all evils by default, same certain foreigners who're never going to look into their native backyards and never know how foreigners living in their native countries feel like. Take it from me: the Swiss xenophobia is perfume of flowers compared to what you can find in Europe.

Lack of variety in food stores, but that only if you compare it with countries like France.

Planning every event weeks or even months in advance.

Re: What do you do not like or hate in Switzerland?

Expats living here for anything more than 6 months and refusing to even trying to integrate, both when it comes to language and culture. You don't need to be crazy about anything local, but at least know of it or appreciate it for what it is. Try to show the locals some respect by even being able to order food in the local language, FFS.

Under the same category: same expats living here only for the money - shopping across the border, not visiting any Swiss cities or mountains at all.

Both points above really pisses me off.

What about Swiss who do that?

Do you hate them too or is your line of thinking that foreigners should be force-marched up mountains?

P.S. I go mountains, visit Swiss cities and shop here.

I get really irritated by people telling me how to live my life. The Swiss generally love to do this - just read all the washing machine, parking regulations or trash recycling treads - and some of the more entitle expats develop a taste for it as well...

Re: What do you do not like or hate in Switzerland?

Being someone who travels a lot, what does sadden me a bit returning to Zurich is the serious resting-bitch-face commonly seen around. Lack of smiling and general pleasantness.

It's like a majority of people have this "I can believe I have to put up with this shxt", or "I am far too important to be dealing with this" look on their face a lot of the time.

It was once explained to me that smiling and general jovialness is considered to be indicators of a person who is not serious, and a person who is not serious is not mature or successful. But of course that was just one explanation and has no absolute conclusions.

Not a myth. Actually experienced this is a miserable little restaurant in Laupen, BE after we had cycled 10k in 30+ heat. We'd had other drinks and a plate of chips too.

Unless it is very clearly indicated at the time the order is taken, payment cannot be enforced. I can't remember where this is in Code d'Obligations, but it's certainly there !

Another little know fact is the restuarant/cafe, by law have to have 3 NON alcoholic drinks one the menu/carte at a price less than the cheapest alcoholic drink or paying for tap water in unenforceable,

More fool you for paying it, you should have stood your ground and argued, I'm surprised you paid it actually.

It is more the exception to the rule in my opinion,
