Christmas in October? Stop it now

They are already doing Chrismas decoration. People live only in the future. In the present moment not.

Hamleys in London hasn't got their Christmas decorations up yet. It must be a Swiss thing.

Re: Christmas in October? Stop it now

Selfridges in London would set up their Xmas shop in July! We wondered why, concluded it's to do with droves of tourists: not many would be returning for the xmas season, so the shops are supplementing income by rolling their out winter magic early.

Re: Christmas in October? Stop it now

Christmas is in only two months.

Christmas markets start in one month.

People need to buy the Christmas crap for their Chistmas market stalls prior to that (and yes, we will have one. )

Re: Christmas in October? Stop it now

If we stop buying that stuff so early stores within a few yrs will have adapted to this and start no earlier than December. Can't blame the stores for wanting to earn money.

Halloween stuff is still going full blast in our parts, so I guess we still have a good two weeks to go before Xmas paraphernalia

In some places they go in parallel! Now that's..something. In my local Migros the Halloween stuff is right at the entrance, the Christmas stuff is on the other side..I love this mercantile, although a bit kitschy spirit. It's funny.

OP, is your real name Scrooge by any chance?

Re: Christmas in October? Stop it now

I’m known as Scrooge amongst my clan..

Our local Coop put out the Lebkuchen and assorted biscuits the 2nd week of September and the poinsettias on 50% discount last week

(Daughter (19) and dad are watching A Christmas Carol as I write

Re: Christmas in October? Stop it now

We got our first stollen in Aldi before we went on holiday in September. And the Christmas spiced cookies they do too.

Why? It's a myth as you say. If people want to waste their money on it, that's their problem.
