The right direction is toward the search function on the menu bar here. All this has been discussed in much detail. Add more specific questions to the appropriate thread, as blanket or lazy questions encourage glib responses.

Thanks, i don't mean to put any blanket questions on the thread etc, it's just that i have never looked at moving away before so it's completely new to me, hence the reason why the question is so open!! Thanks away for replying!!

either search the forum, or else get hold of David Hampshire's "Living and Working in Switzerland" - it will answer quite a lot of those questions for you and is probably how quite a few of us here started.
I don't need mine any more - if you are in Zurich any time soon you can have mine, or I can send it to you.

The spelling-police cometh. C'mon let's try a bit harder and the real humour will flow....

Thks | | | | | your employer should normally apply for your work permit on your behalf. Maybe its good to double check but normally this is done as a matter of course.
During your first years or so you will probably be on a "B-permit" which means that (assuming you earn less than 150K) you don't have to worry about taxes as these will be deducted on a pay as you earn basis. If you feel you are paying too much you can of course file for a tax return at the end of the year but you needn't worry about that until you come to it, if indeed you need to do it at all. Again, your company's HR people will be able to tell you how to go about this. Swiss tax rates are low by international standards.

dave | | | | | Touché, Mr A. We can't all be as wonderfully witty as you. Or as caustic. Barbra. |
