Unexpected registered letter

Hello, I've just checked here if any post scam is happening around ;-) I received an email from post.ch that a registered letter from 1227 Caruge GE is on the way. Any bad things like bills don't come registered in Switzerland so it's intriguing. Too bad I cannot check who's the sender in the online account but have to wait for the delivery.

Could be a motoring related infraction you might have committed!

Any summons from courts are sent registered so sounds serious...

It's 1227 CAROUGE, not Caruge.

Bills, invoices, etc. are occasionally sent as registered post, but that's usually if you've already ignored several earlier ones.

Have you ordered a Post (bank) card recently? The code for that might be sent registered.

Don't know of any scam that would invest in paying the extra for a registered letter. Pick it up - might be an inheritance from an unknown cousin (my last registered letter)

Yeah, but if so that would originate from the canton where it happened. I haven't been in Geneva since a year, at least.

The Office cantonal des véhicules is in 1227 Carouge. Maybe it's something from them.

Re: Unexpected registered letter

In fact this is the first time any registered letter has been sent to me in Switzerland. I am really surprised about the post "conspiracy". Since it is a registered letter they know the sender yet don't let me know via the online account

I think it depends where you live.

Have you ordered anything from anyone recently? We often get things sent from vendors via registered post.

Why doesn't someone set up a Poll so we can all guess what it is?

Either that or the OP can just go to the Post Office and put him, and all of us, out of our misery.

I always had the impression that it was quite usual but next time I just press the groan button instead of complaining per registered letter.

Re: Unexpected registered letter

A registered letter can also be refused or simply not picked up and then it will go back.

All that means is the bite in the ass comes later and is usually bigger

If somebody bothers to send a registered letter, you can safely assume they want you to get it and will ensure you do, one way or another.

I once left a registered letter too long at the post office. Not so much ignored it, but never got round to picking it up.

A few weeks later I got invited to the local police station to pick it up from there.

Don’t tell her that! We’ll never find out what it was if she does that.

Happened to a friend in Spain. He didn't pick up the letter from the post office so two police officers delivered the letter to him personally at no extra charge.

Only mugs go to the post office.
