Very true. But I'm not really worried if it can be checked that I bought frozen peas in Migros.

I assume those statistics presented are from CH given the three languages.

It's not only a question of what you bought but there is a lot of other data peope can pull out of you card habits and locations

Switzerland has four languages.

Italy also has those three languages, plus a couple others.

France also has those three languages.

I can understand that some people are worried about it of course. Personally I have no issue with it for now. The vast majority of people have nothing to hide, so should have nothing to fear.

I prefer cold hard cash! No risk of card cloning, or being caught short when the machine does not work.

Yes, because that happens to all of us, all of the time.

Perhaps you're just set in your ways...?

A friend of mine forgot to take his credit card after paying for the goods with the cashier( not the self checkout ) He came back to the store later to ask about the card but someone had stolen it. If one uses the self checkout this would not happen because the transaction only finishes when one takes the card out. Its stupid that the same system does not apply when one pays with the credit card at the cashier desk.
A friend of yours ... is that so.

Which machine? If there is a power cut even cash won't work in most shops now.

Money can be cloned as well as cards. You may be carrying a fake note and never know it.

Lose cash, it's nearly always gone for good. Lose a card, replace it.

The card machine, it happens.

Also, sometimes the cards themselves fail (I've had that happen at least four times).

Cash works in both cases.
