Does anyone know where to send linens to be pressed in Zurich?

Hello,

Is there a "mangle Leinen" service in Zurich? I searched google and only places like 5aSec popped up. Does anyone have an alternative (a mom and pop shop, perhaps)? I'd love to find somewhere where they can starch fresh bed linens... Open to all tips here.

In case this needs more explanation - I'm looking for a laundry service that has a machine liek this (scroll down to the modern versions): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangle_(machine)

Many thanks for any help!

Not judging, but I have to ask... why? Starchy sheets sound uncomfortable to me.

To each their own, but I find nothing just as nice as freshly laundered crackling bed linens. It's definitely not for those who love their perfumed softeners. Something out of another era, perhaps.

I love freshly laundered, don't use perfumed softeners, but you lost me at "crackling bed linens". Happy hunting however.

Personally, I'm into naturally crinkled, especially with linen, that is supposed to look that way.

Linen is really expensive - occasionally I'll indulge, thinking it might look nice, but it always ends up in my linen cupboard

Re: Does anyone know where to send linens to be pressed in Zurich?

I think linens are used as a catch all phrase for bed clothes, table cloths, napkins etc made of linen, cotton, whatever.

My grandmother had a mangle, so i’ve seen one. But ironing is a foreign concept to me.

Re: Does anyone know where to send linens to be pressed in Zurich?

Ironing is a foreign concept to me too, that's why I send them out. Frankly, for a good starch I am willing to take the train to another if necessary.

Yes, "linens" a a catch-all for bed linens, tablecloths, napkins, etc.

I'm actually a bit surprised this isn't available here. I found these services (dying out, true, but still available to those who search for them) every where in Europe from Spain, France, Germany to Poland.

I suspect it's a swiss-german word that I haven't figured it out..

Re: Does anyone know where to send linens to be pressed in Zurich?

We have always done it at home and honestly it is the easiest, incl curtains...love starched crisp sun dried bed linen. Ironing is so zen.

I know our little town does that service but I'd do my own if I was so desperate. I starch button-up work shirts, comes in a spray.

When would it be necessary? Perhaps when pressing a seam before running it through the sewing machine?

Try googling "Bügeldienst" and your PLZ.

(Yes, starched bedsheets are indeed a joy. I try to iron my bedsheets about every 4th washing.)
