Likely importing cost from UK

I am looking to buy a battery pack from the UK. It costs 185, including VAT. They can deliver to Switzerland and will take off the VAT at source. I am guessing I will then be hit with additional import charges/taxes at this end. I also have a German delivery address that I could use but I obviously wouldn't get the UK VAT off if I go down that route.

Dose anyone have an idea of what additional cost I am looking at if I go for Swiss delivery?

John

Re: Likely importing cost from UK

1) 7.7% VAT on import value, which is price you paid including shipping cost.
Exchange rate is the one published here: http://www.pwebapps.ezv.admin.ch/app...dex.php?lang=1

2) Import processing fee charged by the courier. This depends on the courier used. If it is normal mail and handled by Swiss Post it is CHF 16.00 plus 3% of the import value.

3) Additional fee, in case the paperwork/customs declaration on the package is missing or inaccurate.

Assuming 10 shipping costs the battery will cost you around CHF 201.

Great, that's really helpful. I can live with that mark up!

Hi MountainHigh
I'm not sure what sort of battery pack you need, but there is reichelt.de which has a very, very good selection of all things electronic. Pc bits, components, cables, adapters and and ....
They are set up to pay in CHf, take off De mwst, add CH mwst and deliver to Ch for 7.80 fixed.
I've used them a few times for audio cables and PC parts. No problems.
