Is it possible to import pygmy marmoset to Switzerland?

I really need to buy one and offcourse wouldn't mind making an entire garden dedicated to it. But it seems the laws in this country are ultra tough and I am not sure if they are allow under any condition for civilians

Re: Is it possible to import pygmy marmoset to Switzerland?

Of course the importation and keeping of wild animals is strictly controlled, and in many cases forbidden. As it should be.

I'm not going to give you the links to the appropriate authorities, because doing the research on your own is the first 'test' anyone who is asking this question seriously with a legitimate purpose must overcome.

WTF is wrong with you that you would morally support keeping a wild monkey as a house pet for your own entertainment? Will your 'entire garden cage' (lol, in Switzerland, yeah right) be heated in Winter?

Plus if you don't even have the initiative or intelligence to perform some basic Google searches for "exotic animal pet switzerland" then you don't even deserve to be looking after something as exotic as a hamster.

Have some well deserved red blobs.

While we all know OP is clearly a guy who has no clue what he is doing, here is some info for anyone else considering it...

1. Local regulations... https://www.zuerchertierschutz.ch/en...c-animals.html

2. Guide to how difficult they are as pets https://www.certapet.com/finger-monk...Finger_Monkeys

3. Why you should never do it... https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...-never-be-pets

Marmosets are not ideal for the garden. They sh1t everywhere.

A far better choice would be the amiable lowland gorilla, they throw their doo-doo over the fence, but you need two gorillas so they don't become lonely, so it's twice the paperwork unfortunately.

I tried to do the same last year. I was allowed to import them and have them in my garden but the authorities had very strict conditions: I also had to get some giraffes, an elephant, a couple of crocodiles and pinguins, and had to open my garden for the public.

You can find pictures of my garden here: https://www.zoo.ch/en

You don't need to buy one. Simply visit a country where they are in their natural habitat, go wild and live as one with them.

I'm sure they will accept you as another pygmy.

Hmm, I would say I am shocked but then I would be lying. I am sure I am younger than most of you, and yet I would never talk to someone I don't know like this. I feel sorry for all of you

Don't worry, little fella! One day you'll grow up big and strong. Well, not gorilla strong but maybe pygmy marmoset strong if you're lucky.

Don't feel sorry for us, feel sorry for yourself having such a low level of common sense and empathy. The fact you not only think you "must have" a pygmy monkey as a pet, combined with the fact you think that can "keep it in your converted garden" in a country with freezing winters, and that you haven't even researched any basic information on local regulations or ethical issues surrounding them is just pretty unbelievable.

My son wanted cute fluffy stuff he’d seen in zoos and on telly, and had grand plans on how he would construct fantastic structures to look after them, without a thought for the law or the expertise required. He was 6 at the time.

Even if you are younger than people on the forum it doesn’t mean you can’t look up the rules and regs yourself, does it?

You beat me to it Fish Paste! I was also going to suggest to the OP that he/she goes the whole hog and gets a couple of gorillas!
