Scammers pretending to be SUVA

So, my daughter had an accident and is off work, under SUVA. She's recovering well.

The number 0762712266 (listed as probably a call centre in whitepages.ch) called my daughter, claiming to be SUVA. They said they wanted to send someone over that day (yesterday) (which she found a bit odd). She said she can't - she's was going out. They said it was important to send someone over, and so my daughter asked "when are you open?". They said from 7am until 9pm, Mondays to Saturdays. She said they come over tomorrow (that is, today) at 11am. They told her her home address and asked if that was correct, which it was. They finally asked who she is insured with for health.

Nobody turned up today, so she called SUVA, and they said that there was absolutely no issue that they wanted to discuss with her.

She says she did find it odd, but she was a bit distracted with a number of things, including that she was just going out. She missed the start of the call because they were mumbling...

Looks like the usual insurance sales scam, but with an added deception twist.

Re: Scammers pretending to be SUVA

I wonder how the scammer got the SUVA connection. Don't think that information is in public domain.

It might have been just dumb luck. But it is worrying. She's considering making a police report.

That's probably a good idea. The police should know such a scam is going on, and she's got a phone number to connect to it.

Not really. Unless she mis-heard or something, this sounds a lot like the beginning of fraud.

It's probably no secret that she had an accident. And SUVA is biggest insurer re accidents in Switzerland.

Good idea. If it has no further consequences for your daughter, it might at least alert to a new scam (like the grandma-scam, which was good to have made public).
