Not really. For the most part non-Aussies haven't even heard of such things, let alone tasted them.

As for salad cream, anyone who thinks it's a substitute for mayonnaise is completely missing the point. Comparing them is ridiculous. There are things where mayo is absolutely the right thing, others where it's got to be salad cream, and only rarely do the two usages overlap.

Personally I love real maple syrup but then again my dad’s family is practically Canadian so that might explain things he grew up on the border in New York State near some maple farms...

Anyway you might find, like me, that the longer you’re here the more you learn to make the stuff you like. Pancakes for example, there are plenty of good recipes for mixes etc. Or you might find yourself putting Nutella or jam on your pancakes, or even switching to crêpes! It’s all an adventure...

Enjoy exploring the previously referenced markets that do sell American and British products, and take advantage of every visit to get some of te food you miss. In the meantime enjoy exploring some new recipes too, whether they be American or otherwise

I don’t have dressing if any kind on salads so don’t use salad cream for that but I do like it in a sandwich with egg or tuna.
