Need advice to fix my Apple Mouse

Dear forum gurus,
My 18-month-old Magic Mouse 2 stopped working. I recharged but I don't think it was charged because the light was not on when I plugged it in. I lost my receipt and don't remember where my husband bought it, maybe Interdiscount but for sure not Apple store. I tried to make an appointment with Apple Store in Zurich but no slot, so I am not sure if I should just show up. Will they fix it for me if I did not buy it from them? Or where else I can ask for help?
Or should I just trash it? It is hard to make peace with the thought that Apple mouse lasts for only 18 months when in the past my other cheap PC mouses all last more than 5 years.
Sorry if my question is silly. I am so low tech and this is my first MAC so I am trying to figure out how to deal with it.
Many, many thanks in advance for the advice.
Sky Blue

Repairs will cost more than a new one, bin it!

Oh really? Super sad. So expensive and does not last. Is it usual like this? I wonder if it is really broken. Anyway to check it before trashing? Thanks.

I don't think there is a battery in the mouse.

Given that it has no cable, it must indeed be a magic mouse.

Re: Need advice to fix my Apple Mouse

Also try to charge it by using another cable, cables break much more often than the mouse.

As for Apple Store, my experience is that it does not matter where you bought something as long as it is within the warranty period that you would have had if you had bought it from Apple directly they have no problem fixing it for you.

Losing the receipt is shitty, but they also often repair things if the serial number leads to a production date within warranty period, and perhaps you can show/find a bank transfer.

Can't be it.

The MM 2 lacks a lid to exchange battery and is equipped with a special build battery that can't be connected wrongly.

Re: Need advice to fix my Apple Mouse

You normally need to make an appointment at the apple store.. You can do it on the AppleStore app..

Generally they are quite helpful.. You don't usually need a receipt etc. Some of it depends on who you get, I've always had good experience.

When i bought my latest apple watch they asked me if i worked for a company who had a discount program with them. They searched through the list, found my company and said of it's 5% off.. But hold on, we'll say for work for this other company, they get 10% off .. happy days.

Re: Need advice to fix my Apple Mouse

Is it possible that the battery is just dead due to not being connected and recharging properly? Maybe loose cable or bad connection at the other end? Is it possible for you to confirm that your charging solution is working properly?

I tried 2 cables and 2 charging pods already and they worked for my iPhone. Will try a few more cables and spots, though. Thanks.

My Apple magic mouse uses 2 batteries and is about 12 years old, I inherited it from my OH and use it with the iMac Mini he bought me recently.

I'm not a fan of Apple's Magic Mouse.

Any other mouse will work. I use a Logitech cable mouse on my Mac, which is much better...
