Exactly.

I’m all for a bit of positivity and happy posts but some of them come across as ‘look at me! Look how good I’ve got it!’ Or ‘look how clever I am!’
There’s a fine line between positivity and happiness and plain showing off in my opinion.

Don’t agree with trolling the thread though, if you’ve nothing nice to say best to say nothing at all.
Hmmm, there were times on this forum when people were told they're too negative or something like this.

I'm grateful for the fact I get to travel to Edinburgh on Sunday. September is one of my favourite months of the year in Scotland, when the colours are starting to turn. Also grateful for spending a week walking by the sea and taking in the the air that makes me sleep well.

Agree, but IMHO on a gratitude thread it's (sort of) acceptable. On other threads though....oh well, unless you start a thread on buying a castle in France and everybody is invited...

Can't people just have one thread that is about positive things and things we are grateful for? There are hundreds/thousands more threads on which to complain, troll, etc. There's no big conspiracy here.

MC might have created this thread but I'm the one with the heavy mod hand in it. We received reports complaining about the trolling and personal comments being brought in from other threads, and I think the complaints were valid.

We should all take a step back now and then to appreciate what we have, and there's no reason to bring drama in from other threads.

Edited to add kumbaya and stuff

I thought once August is over, so is our gratitude.

Sorry for the interruptions, it seems like this thread is taken very seriously. And we'll have one every single month.

Let's have the Kumbaya now.

Re: The September Attitude of Gratitude

Oks, where were we.. Today, the gratitude goes to:

- a friend who said "let's box a little" while it turned out to be an official 3hr muay thai course. I can't move today and the coaches are amazing.

- for a new colleague with a fresh perspective and a ton positive motivation and drive..

- for those who can be happy for somebody else.

- for nice ripe raspberries that will end up in a crumble tonight

- for impeccable Swiss trains that deliver, every day..

- for people who take care of their kids well.

- for support I got bfrom those who adopted us here.

- for indoor climbing hall that stays open late for us

- for random encounters.

Little Rufus: Mummy, I am a girl who does not like unicorns. I like dragons.

Littlest Rufus: *babygrowl*

Hound: *stares at me hoping for a biscuit*

Me: More gin.

Gin. I'm greatful for gin. And truly excellent tonic.

- for random encounters.
I am grateful that I have found a nice group of people (by chance, it was more a thing of knowing someone and she knew the rest of them) when I was missing that kind of friendship the most. I was always into the multiculti/international sort of things but man, it's so good to find that space you longed for all these years. Because of the language, the warmth and so much more.

Plus we don't need a forum, lol. Grateful for this one too.

Btw. I read somewhere that in order to feel happy it's good to practice gratefulness (OK, all the mambo jumbo pseudo-psychology self-help books recommend that). I wouldn't normally do it on EF, but in the end, it's good to counterbalance certain things that have happened here.

And this.
