Jagwaugh

It has fallen to me, with a heavy heart, to inform you that Jagwaugh sadly, suddenly, passed away on 21st August 2019. He was, to me and countless others on here, with his combination of whimsy, sage advice and technical savvy, a source of joy. He will be missed.

I hoped we could meet one day, Jagwaugh, my daughters would have adored you too. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Sad to hear it. He helped with a few techy things - even offered to come over to Basel to assist.

Gutted to lose such a joy of a man with a wonderful wit. I'm sure I'm not alone in valuing every word he wrote and every thought he was generous enough to share with us.

Re: Jagwaugh

Such sad news, my heart goes out to his friends and family.

Jagwaugh was one of EF's leading lights. Although I did not know him IRL, his presence on the forum showed he was a true gentleman. He was always helpful, kind, with a great sense of humour, a true gentleman.

He will be much missed.

Re: Jagwaugh

I'm very sorry to hear this. I also didn't know him IRL but he was very kind to me and the community. Once he put great effort, giving me great advice for a trip I was planning to Canada last year. Not stuff you usually do with strangers online. Rest in Peace!

I will certainly miss his tech savvy and humour. That’s as close to my ideal EF member as it gets.

What a great pity. We’re all beginning to show our age i guess, these days invitations to funerals seem far more abundant that marriages unfortunately.

Jagwaugh will certainly be greatly missed here.

That's such awfully sad news. I don't recall meeting him in real life, but I exchanged messages with him here and on FB a few times. Such a Gent, always wanting to help and with a great sense of humour. And far too young to leave us too.

Re: Jagwaugh

I found out about his passing on Sunday when my father mentioned reading the obituary of a former employee of his that he hired many years ago. It is only when I asked more questions because the name rang a bell that I realised that he meant "our" very own JagWaugh. I had the pleasure of meeting him on the occasion of what I believe was the first of a row of basketball games organised by LiB. We both were less on on the sporty side and preferred to sit down for a drink.

It was wonderful to have the opportunity to speak to someone who knew so much about so many things. His unique perspective probably did not pander to everyone but then I prefer people to be honest rather than smooth talking people-pleasers. My father described him as brilliant but often difficult; however, the same can by said for daddy dearest and he has very high standards when it comes to rating brilliance, so he must have been amazing at what he did for a living. Add to that his passion for cars and readiness to give sound advice on this and many other topics, the musical talent and you really have a Renaissance man.

I am glad that someone else has taken the initiative to remember the one of a kind gentleman and I am convinced that it is out of nothing but respect and a genuine sense of loss.

We are once again reminded how incredibly precious and short life is. I hope that his family and friends can draw some small comfort from the fact that his last moments were spent doing something he loved with a dear friend. And yet - while it is never the right time to lose someone, it is so much harder when it is without warning. My deepest condolences go out to them.
