I am grateful that there are people who actually understand this rather strange festival. We sang at one (our worst performance ever with the biggest ovations??). I saw many grown ups doing strange things (bumm slapping in leather shorts). I mean...ok.

Re: The October Attitude of Gratitude.

As you're all so much into it, it's called schuhplattlern (when you do it) and Schuhplattler (the dance) and here's a beginners course for next year :

Don't bash it, MC, it's tradition. In Bavaria as well as in Austria.

Brought back memories of patting your head and rubbing stomach at same time. Really wierd. I can pat head perfectly with right hand and rub stomach with left. But the reverse just does not work. Thats wierd!

Re: The October Attitude of Gratitude.

Today I am grateful for:

- My trains into work were largely cancelled this morning, and it put me in an awful mood. This negative mood was suddenly erased due to a lovely fellow commuter who held her 40 pound dog like a baby and wished me a nice day with a big happy smile. I later saw that she needed a wheel chair to get around and it made me feel fortunate I can walk...plus it was also a positive lesson that someone who struggles everyday just to get around, can be so nice.

- My new guitar arrived yesterday, a 1966 Harmony Bobkat, and I can't wait to get home and play it with a chilled tasty negroni.

- My sweet husband who amazes me everyday for sticking happily by my side for 20 years.

- The Fall season, my favorite and the sudden awakeness it brings.

I had a spider that hung out at my kitchen window for over 8 months, I grew somehow attached to him and was genuinely sad when he passed. Amazing how these useful creatures are often squashed and done away with. Nice to hear there's someone else like me.

Re: The October Attitude of Gratitude.

Gratitude and respect to my husband today. He flew to London this morning for his mother's burial tomorrow. His nephew is working in Majorca and had to fly in from Palma, he's in his 20s and quite nervous about tomorrow, husband waited for his flight to arrive so he'd have someone to travel across to E London with as he always thinks of others first.

I decided the best thing for me is to stay in, keep busy and just be at the end of the phone if needed. I have a park opposite my front windows and am watching the autumn leaves turning, I so love this season and it's rich colours.

Re: The October Attitude of Gratitude.

Gratitude and respect to my husband who was strong enough not to react when his brother blanked him and turned his back at their mother's funeral (he's a 50 year old man child)

Huge gratitude on a miserable day for a steaming bowl of home made lentil and carrot soup, plus enough for the freezer. Soup making is a Scottish art form and very therapeutic

I'd be grateful if these threads could be merged into a single one instead of having one each month so that I could ignore once and be done with it. honestly, the title alone is vomit-inducing.

Gratitude for air travel today, as my husband is sitting at Gatwick waiting for his flight back to Basel. I was planning to meet him at the airport, but he's asked me to stay at home and make a nice curry for dinner instead
