Who was being naturalised in Geneva tonight?

If you were amongst the 200+ people at the Victoria Hall tonight and you enjoyed the yodel choir, I was there! There's always a drink with nibbles in the foyer of the concert hall afterwards and I always wonder how many EF members are there, enjoying their new Swiss citizenship.

People are always surprised when they find out I am not Swiss...but next year I should be on stage AND a new Swiss citizen (and therefore should be entitled to double the amount of free booze!)

AFTER singing and performing, I can manage my fair share...only in support of the local wine and beer industry, of course! Very dutiful, I am!

Re: Who was being naturalised in Geneva tonight?

We were wondering if you’d be yodelling at any of the «desalpe» or Autumn festivals ?

As a fine new Swiss citizen you’ll need to know the lyrics of the national anthem

I think it's nothing fancy if it's facilitated. I received my final letter a few weeks after it was official. Sort of a downer. Oh, I've been Swiss for a few weeks now. Well that was a day to celebrate.

No, in Geneva one of the Ministers comes and does a really sweet and short speech celebrating differences and embracing diversity (the rest of Switzerland turn their nose to it, Geneva celebrates it), we provide the folklore and then there's a lovely buffet with petits fours and canapees, free wine and other drinks (alas, no Whisky, but beggars can't be choosers, right?) and we mingle with all the new Swiss who love to take their pictures with us "real Swiss" (ha, ha!) and then we just yodel along for fun. They LOVE it!

Vaud has a ceremony in Lausanne, but the apero was half a glass of wine, one crisp and one olive per person. At least, thats what I got.

I was invited to go...but my parents were treating me to a gastronomic week-end in Lavaux and Lausanne, I was busy with orgasmic food and wine! Next year, hopefully.

A Crisp? Luxury! And our ceremony was in Renens.

Yodeling party for all of us facilitated naturalization folks sounds fun!

It was a few years ago now, but I still remember how unexciting it was to find out I'd been Swiss for a few weeks and didn't know it. Now I need to do my civic duty and wade through these election materials to make choices!

ARMD has no particular reputation at present
Re: Who was being naturalised in Geneva tonight?

I didn't know the naturalization ceremony is held at the Victoria Hall. I thought it was mostly the Salle communale de Plainpalais or sometimes the Batiment des Forces Motrices !
