Volunteering with young kids - Christmas

Hi Everyone!

I am looking for opportunities to volunteer and help others together with my 2 young girls.

I saw an old post here but the website linked doesn't work anymore.

I know as well there are amazing organizations, in which you can donate money or send shoeboxes with toys and other things. I am, however, looking for an option in which we could be there present to volunteer. Back in my home country, this is so easy to find but I find it a bit difficult here in Switzerland and need some guidance.

Does anyone know of any opportunities?

Deeply grateful for your tips.

If you live in Zürich Stadt the Gemeinschaftszentren are a good way to start, that'll also get you in touch with other families in your area.

Re: Volunteering with young kids - Christmas

EFers - I'm giving this thread a boost...

Any suggestions for how a family can get involved to serve those less fortunate at Christmas time (or any other)?

I am so tired of all the commercialization and my kids get stuff year round anyway.

It would be so nice to really share the act of giving with my children to those less fortunate over the holidays.

I'm also going to ask around work and the community, and will share any sage advice along the way.

Thx in advance!

this was posted yesterday by caritas CH (link in DE) :

"Doing good in the Christmas Season: Caritas Zurich is looking for helpers for the solidarity event "one million stars" on December 14. th at the Josef Wiese!
With the action "one million stars" Caritas sets a sign for more solidarity with people affected by poverty in Switzerland. This is only possible thanks to the support of volunteers. For the occasion at the Josef Wiese in Zurich, we are still looking for helpers. Click here for registration:

Thank you all for your ideas and info!
We found a place!
http://www.cevi-zhshgl.ch/

They lovingly organize Christmas get together for people who don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to be with.

If anyone wants to join, they still need helpers!

Wishing you all a lovely holiday.
