Oh come on, it's nowhere near the middle of Zürich. I live 5km from the centre and this place is a further 3km in the opposite direction. And when it was built it probably was the sticks, but the suburb that you live in has spread up to it.

No it wasnt. It was in the industrial core of Zurich, connected to the factory cannal where the factories dumped their wastewater in. It still borders to a recycling center for solid waste... and the biogas storage on the other side of it. And there is a reason why it is where it is: Its at the city border point from where the river flows into the next canton ;-)
