Fantastic, that will be great, and very eco friendly as well in using old stock instead of building new ones!

Tell that to people in wheelchairs or with crutches and people with children in prams!! It also applies to the 8'er tram. Until they get new trams in 2021

Old stock already in use for more than a year. http://www.lokalinfo.ch/artikel/arti...irage-einsatz/
The other mirages have been sold 2011.

The problem is as follows: VBZ ordered new trams, Flexity 2 from Bombardier. The delivery is delayed because succumbed bidders Siemens and Stadler Rail lodged an appeal against the decision which delayed the actual contract signing.

With the extension of line No 2 and 8 and accidents, such as the one on June 28 2019 the fleet is to small to maintian the normal runs.

From omtatsat's link: <<Auf einer Linie gibt es nur noch einen 15-Minuten-Takt.>> (on one line there will only be a tram every 15 minutes from now on)

wrong thread, this is definitely a FWP.

What's an FWP? And one hopes the new trams have round wheels this time!

Individual wheels of the Cobra trams deform and become angular. The deformation leads to a noise in the interior of the tram, which is expressed by loud rattling and roar, as the "Tages-Anzeiger" reports. Rock and roll

That is a common problem for vehicles on metal wheels, usually caused by imperfection in the braking system causing non-uniform wear. It's technically called "square wheels" Can be corrected in the shop, not a big deal - if the tram has the time to stay in the shop a couple of days...

The tram shortage is a known problem caused by the furniture delays. Trams were getting old but still enough until the opening of the 8 extension, probably when the competitors appealed blocking the furniture it was too late to postpone the extension opening... and then they just hoped for the best, e.g. zero collisions. The Schlieren extension was then too much to handle.

I am a bit sorry for VBZ employees, they must be really pushing hard to keep the network running. I hope they manage to speed up the deliveries of the new trams, it will really be a blessing for the drivers and mechanics as well.

AFAIK the problem does appear more often with smaller wheel diamaetrs and unfortunaly in case of the Cobra trams more often than expected.

Re: Too few trams in Zurich

I will need to adjust any appointments made by having to leave a full 8 minutes earlier for the changes made to the 15 line. They used to come every 7 minutes, but now will come only every 15 minutes.

Or, WAIT. Maybe I could just adjust my own departure time

Yes could explain the lack of motivation at the highest levels of the VBZ

Re: Too few trams in Zurich

Its a perfect example of the incompetence and lack of management in the VBZ.

It should be privatised then things will get done

Now that there are less connections, did they stop saying "don't get up too early"?
