Do you do it?

The Swiss three kiss "greeting". And should one first kiss on the right cheek of the other or the left or is there no fixed rule to this " pecking"?

You normally shake hands with the right so it naturally falls that you lean left for the peck on the cheek. Going to the right would feel weird plus, with the unexpected swerve, you might end up clashing lips. The horror!

Re: Do you do it?

The rules are strange ..
Men/Men always shake hands, in the pub, in the street, at work.. That bit is simple.
Men/Ladies don't do either fake kiss or shake hands at work.
Men/Ladies shake hands at first but when exactly does that get promoted to the fake kiss?
Ladies/Ladies anything goes.

Definitely left first! Then you cross the border to France where it's only two and you're left kissing air on your left hand side, feeling like a Pantomime Button!

Basically what you say is all wrong.
Men /men kiss
Men/ladies shake hands and kiss at work

Just wondering what we did in Australia? Just get right on with it?

It's flu season. And I've already suffered through round one.

The three kisses are on hiatus until spring.

Au contraire - it's the way to keep my friends. And keep them healthy.

I don't want to pass my flu germs on to them.

Re: Do you do it?

I try to avoid it by getting a very stiff right arm when shaking hands with someone who shows signs of closing up.

My skin is so sensitive, I've managed to get a rash from even those little pecks by woman's cheap make-up. Okay, the 'cheap' is my interpretation.

From people I like I love a good hug.

Just so we're clear. Looker's left first (i.e. right cheek to right cheek)? I would hate to think that I've been doing it incorrectly all these years.

You would have noticed, had you done it wrong - it tends to get really awkward in that case

Unless you’re in Lyon where it’s four.
You can imagine how long it took us to say hello to everyone if we arrived last at a party when we were living there.

My only awkwardness is when I'm in Greece and instinctively go for the third peck when Greeks do two.
