Multicultural and yet so Swiss...

...Every Friday, our village inn has an "apéro musical" from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m. Basically, anyone can come for just a drink or a full meal, you're welcome just the same. And they have live music, it started with jazz and blues and now expanding to rock or world music. Tonight, there was a group of 8 Swiss men who came with their kids / toddlers and a dog...the women must have had a night off / out.
Anyway, tonight there was a British woman and her Brazilian husband whose repertoire was world music, so we were treated to a few Brazilian songs as well as two Scottish ballads (guess who was in Heaven!) and Indian and Pakistani music.... gorgeous!
Even more gorgeous was the sight of all these wee kiddies and the dog all sitting on the floor, absolutely in full rapture with the music, not a sound from them, all incredibly well behaved, the 9 year old looking after the 2 year old without a fuss.

What a fantastic evening, what a credit to lovely Geneva countryside, multicultural, intergenerational, all welcoming according to its centuries long tradition. So happy to live here!

And because I joined in with the Scottish ballads, I got all my wine and double coffee on the house!

Re: Multicultural and yet so Swiss...

Sounds fun.

I can't help feeling 2020 is your year, McTavge. After the posts about loss and tears - and missed chances at the bus stop - this year you only report about having fun, going places, meeting people, singing and partying.
I enjoy watching you from afar

...... yeah, yeah, this thing about letting things go, having your hands free to receive the new .....

It's only been 17 days! Not all partying, but doing quite well. Unfortunately, despite all the fun, no one will ever replace Mrs McTavge in my heart in the foreseeable future. That's the bit I don't seem to be able to move on from.

Life is not about replacing things. It is about adding.

Greece! A life-long dream! For Switzerland, I hesitate between somewhere in the Engadin parts or Emmenthal.
