Anti-lockdown are the loudest and populist parties and they try really hard to stand out but they are minority.
They aren't the minority around here, I don't know anyone who favors the pseudo-lockdown.

Tom, you live in a rather small bubble.

I think it is best to keep things as is until the end of March - or re-open businesses and have schools carry out distance learning.

I don't mind if you open the businesses next week and close the schools for two weeks. We have school holidays anyway.

This is a very positive development! Having been marginalised for so long people are finally waking up and realising the true cost of these dangerous and ineffective interventions.

There's still a long way to go, but the movement is gathering pace. The more people see the pictures coming in from places like Florida and Sweden the more they'll realise that the approach needs to change.

Probably that it's true, although westerly might have been a more appropriate compass direction. Was the headline in the Tagi and 20Minuten a couple of days back and if you look at the latest 7 day average the top 5 cantons are all from the west (in order VS, GE, VD, FR and JU).

As ever, the statistical relevance of that is...?

Last polling I saw (admittedly must be a month or so ago now) still indicated >70% in favour.

I have, as explained on countless occasions, one can't just pick and choose the comparison of different countries just to make a point. Compare it to the average outcome across the continent and you'll find Sweden has had the same result, only without mask mandates and enforced lockdowns.

If you're so obsessed with the "Nordic neighbours", have a look how Finland's economy is recovering. Could be because it's dealt with Covid so well, or it could be down to the fact it's a completely different country with a different language and economy that has nothing whatsoever to do with its "Nordic neighbours"

It was the word struggling that I had an issue with.
To me that indicated that there was a real risk of hospitals being overwhelmed and that isn’t the case at the moment.
The numbers might be higher but they seem to have it under control and hospitalisations seem to be pretty similar across most of Switzerland.

And I have explained on equally countless occasions that the 4 countries are very similar economically, socially and geographically (agreed oil makes Norway a bit special but the way they use it largely negates that difference). I completely fail to see the relevance of Finnish being a different language (oh and Swedish is an official language in Finland anyway btw.)

For a virologist, socially and geographically are the main factors anyway.

R seems to be at or around 1 in GE, VD, FR. Lower elsewhere.

Its rather worrying when R is that high even in lockdown / lockdown light.
