Have you tried Burgerstein's Zinc-C toffees? They have 100% of the RDA of zinc in them as well as vitamin C. Tastes a bit like oranges. I have a very sensitive stomach but have never had any problem with these. Attachment 138857 | | | | | That looks exactly like something I need, thanks!

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Yes, and also the virus seems to spread exponentially. It has a much higher RO (rate of contagion) than the regular flu. So the more cases you get = many more cases = many more deaths. I think that's why it's so important to try to get this thing under control as much as possible. Limited contact with the public, more people working from home, etc. I know a few people are going to dislike me for saying this, but I personally think that CH should close the border. | | | | | I'm sure about it too.
They are discussing this. But there are a lot of Italian workers that are vital for Ticino's economy, especially those in the health system. They were discussing about hosting them in hotels etc.
But yeah, I don't know what else the Swiss need in order to take this decision, considering the gravity of situation in Italy. I hope they won't regret their indecisiveness.
How can you not know it, Mr. Alain Berset?

I saw one yesterday, I think.
A, found it: https://www.zerohedge.com/health/pag...t-flu-truthers
I think google has shunned ZeroHedge. You can't search the site, which is very sad because they were one of the first sites to warn about this I think even back in December. But certainly already at the beginning of January.
Ah, found it: https://www.zerohedge.com/health/hon...pital-lockdown
(maybe somebody posted this already, I haven't read the whole thread and didn't follow it that closely)
So, the West had basically two full months to prepare for this.
And they did barely anything.
This will make even more people question the current state of our political system and search for "alternatives". Not now, of course, but once the dust has settled and the bodies have been buried....

As for supplementing, I think I already mentioned Vitamin D.
It's apparently very effective.
Don't know if it's still available (in pure form), people have probably started buying and stockpiling all kinds of meds.

Italy had some announcement about prioritizing care for those more likely to recover so reading between the lines they are out of space and reallocating resources to younger people. I don't know why people have so much confidence that Swiss hospitals have endless resources for the treatment of exponential numbers.

Not now, of course, but once the dust has settled and the bodies have been buried.... | | | | | Might not be a popular opinion, I have to say 90% of Hong Kong people wearing masks (plus other measures like washing hands and avoiding the crowd) is effective. First case appeared much sooner than europe but the no. of confirmed cases is only 115 so far and 2 deaths. Keep in mind Hong Kong has the same population as switzerland but 40 times smaller. Very dense city.
Also a lot of people volunteer to give out free masks to old people, who has no knowledge of how to buy them online or can't afford the high price.
It comes with a price tho, as people are avoiding social interactions and events, a lot of shops/restaurants/taxi-drivers/hotels are suffering with no business.

We trust the Swiss authorities? ... ?
If situation would be so bad they too would have to make a triage... Goodness knows what that could mean for individual cases, but hey ho....let's be optimistic.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Some main points taken fm press conference in ZH : https://m.20min.ch/schweiz/zuerich/s...erich-11617320
The press conference is now over.
According to canton pharmacist Andreas Hintermann, the canton of Zurich is well equipped and has sufficient protective materials. Hintermann specifies the number of 7.5 million protective masks.
Stefan Kuster, Head Doctor Infectious Diseases and Hospital Hygiene, University Hospital Zurich, calls for solidarity among the population. You can stay contagious for a relatively long time. This is why it is important to protect risk groups and to stay at home for at least ten days if there are symptoms of illness.
Zurich hospitals are well equipped, says Rolf Gilgen, director of Bülach Hospital. He also emphasizes that in the city as well as in the country you have highly qualified and highly motivated staff. However, he appeals to the population to call first and not go straight to the hospital. "This reduces the stress and the risk of infection."
Like Rickli, Widler also believes that people in Switzerland will die of the corona virus. «It is as safe as amen in the church. Our staff is challenged. I appeal to everyone's personal responsibility. » People belonging to the risk group should avoid situations that pose a risk of becoming infected. From now on, the tests can also be carried out by general practitioners in the canton of Zurich. Only people with cough or fever who are older than 65 or chronically ill are tested. Sick people who work in the healthcare sector are also tested. It would be wrong to simply test it, says Josef Widler, President of the Zurich Medical Association, to the media.
"It is useless to perform tests on aysmptomatic people."
In order to maintain capacity, a new test regime will apply in the Canton of Zurich starting Monday. All list hospitals can now carry out corona tests and not only those that are designated. All doctors, including general practitioners, are now also allowed to carry out tests." | | | | | So what to make of this interview? If the Canton of Zurich are only testing those over 65 and those with pre-existing conditions which warrant testing, then I would deduce that those numbers for the Canton of Zurich do not accurately reflect those infected with the COVID-19.
Do they lack the resources/tests to assess all who claim to be infected or those who have symptoms of infection or do they believe resources should be allocated to those who are most risk of death and the others will probably recover?

Great, so now the BAG can happily report how the pandemic is all under control as the numbers drop in the next few days, while we are all supposed to rely on every person with a cough to self-quarantine.... https://www.20min.ch/schweiz/news/st...hweiz-29691128 |

Went to fill my Rx today only to be told Vitamin D in all forms is sold out. So tomorrow I'll have to do the rounds of other Apotheke, hoping someone can fill my prescription.

Your body creates its own Vit.D. | | | | | I always thought that as well, but then my doctor told me that sunlight actually only activates the vitamin D that is already in your body.
I get my vitamin D tested every October and it is always too low, so she puts me on high-dose supplements for a while. Last October, I stuck to those high dose supplements every day, for the first time 'religiously,' and this is the first winter where I didn't get the depressies and didn't get the flu (well, not yet ).

My doctor actually always gives it to me from her office.
If you can't find it anywhere here, there is a great site with very cheap and fast international shipping that has it, iherb.com. I get my melatonin and magnesium from there, etc. https://ch.iherb.com/search?kw=vitamin%20D | This user would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post: | |

In the UK, Rugby at Twickers went ahead with 35000, Crufts with dogs and owners from all over the world, and then Cheltenham same with horses.
Saw a post today from someone who returned by plane from Milan to UK yesterday- no checks whatsoever at airport.

No, they just want to stop it. If you don’t visit your 80 year old parents, they won’t catch it from you.
I’m astounded by the above statistics suggesting that all the deaths were people over 50!
