Those of importance to the situation can locally be put in hotels and such, those things are starting to run empty anyway, if shit really hits the fan they'll be hardly at home anyway.

Asking a population to confine itself would be a contra-diction with keeping public transportation up.
Fair point. Been there with a previous employ during the snow of 2009-10 when public transport closed across much of Gt. Manchester and our boss put us up in a hotel across the road from the office.

Just seen a graph which shows Switzerland as 13 days behind Italy in terms of outbreak.
But we don't have to wait so long, we have a smart and caring government who will realise it be better to run ahead of the Italian schedules instead of following the same schedule only to end up with the same numbers..

If only I'd believe this myself...

Speaking of parliament and responsibilities. EU had a corona meeting earlier today in an almost empty parliament and EU parliament will now close with no end-date given. So the EU just morally died and will not be involved in any of this...

Re: Coronavirus

A total of 36 Iranians have died of alcohol poisoning after consuming doctored alcohol in Ahvaz, the capital of south-western Khuzestan province, the official Irna news agency reports.

The report said that "consuming fake alcohol has occurred due to the spread of rumours that drinking alcohol would prevent the coronavirus infection".

I'm now thinking about the people in other thread talking about homemade masks

Re: Coronavirus

Could we get Triumph to manufacture masks instead of bras and thongs? Ones that can be washed at 95°? The construction looks roughly similar, after all.

If you take this graph https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ and switch it so that the list prioritises 'Tot cases / 1M pop', that's the real story rather than the daily increase in diagnosed cases, but I'm guessing you already knew that.

It's really not that easy to change production lines to what is from a constructional point of view a completely different product. And than we still need the ground materials to feed the production lines. Would take several weeks of 24/7 at minimum to make the new parts needed to change the machines and write the new software for the logic controllers.

Yup, luckily we can take a bit bigger hit on percentage than Italy before we run into trouble since we also have more medical employees and hospital beds on percentage, also we have a younger population.

However if we don't stop the numbers from going up than eventually we also need trucks instead of hearses.

That's a statistic I was roughing in my head before this. It has suprised me that somewhere like the BBC never delved into the fact that per capita, Switzerland is moving towards one of the most problematic countries whilst they been focused on Iran, Italy, South Korea and China. But the Swiss stats will soon be fixed by not testing most people anymore.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to use your balcony when you've been quarintined?
This is not China. In their quarantine frenzy I bet they welded the balcony doors shut, too, not just regular doors. But bravo, said WHO. The fact that they welded in living people is apparently secondary.

What about the military hospital facilities? Presumably these will all be opened up. There is a big underground one where my son is currently doing his military service for example.

Well good luck to them welding my PVC windows shut!
How else to enjoy quarantine other than a book on the balcony?

Todays update: Total 491 (+117) confirmed cases

This is not looking good.
Anyone want to attempt to adjust this with an estimate in including under 65s and those who haven't yet developed pneumonia?

Re: Coronavirus

I would recommend everyone to watch less TV. Everything you see has something to do with Corona. Washing hands more often helps everyone.

Plenty of beds, but the military does not have a huge stack of GP's standby, nor do they have huge stacks of the specific machines needed for this.

We don't have those numbers so your guess would be as good as mine, I only know from some days ago that infections mostly were among the younger people. (read up to 40yr)
