Why? What is happening with the vaccine is totally linked to Brexit.
It may be linked to Brexit but it is probably more applicable in one of the vaccine threads or the Brexit thread than the general coronavirus thread.
FMF should have put his post about the Pfizer vaccine and the E.U. in one of the vaccine threads or maybe even the Brexit thread if it is pertinent to that discussion.

ah yes, in a way. But Switzerland has at least realised it, acknowledged it and made sure she keeps good relations and agreements with her surrounding neighbours, so borders can flow nicely, and people too.
This didn't happen overnight but took many years.

The UK has not - and escaping EU borders via the North or West (especially now Biden has made it clear) - is not going to be easy. With exports 40% down and even before the transition dates, shows this quite well.
Switzerland's participation in Schengen started ten years after Schengen started for the EU.

Your post just above has nothing to do with the vaccine, but all with your all-over-the-place bitterness about Brexit.
It's an emotive issue that's going need some time for healing, reconciliation and normalisation.

I totally acknowledge and accept that I am bitter about Brexit - and for very good reasons which are coming to light day by day- all the 'project fear' warnings coming to roost, one by one.

However, could you explain how what is happening now with the vaccine is not related to Brexit? There is no 'may' about it BM.

My post was not about whether it was related to Brexit or not, it was about whether this discussion belongs in this thread.

In my opinion it doesn’t. There are other places far more appropriate for this.

Well, perhaps. But you should scroll back and see where the EU discussion started earlier today, and all the vitriol - and it wasn't me for sure.

Since my post was about vaccines first & Brexit second, I chose to post in this thread, Jackie does tend to go off topic without the wrath of the moderators so seemed perfectly appropriate in this thread.

I notice this is not the only thread you have been out with your wooden spoon today

She is a well trained politician, teflon and never took responsibility for anything. The stuff she got away with when she was Defense Minister in Germany was unbelievable.

Anyway, it looks like the damage is done and the EU will slowly have to crawl out of this misery with the vaccine they got. Not much better here to be honest, but at least the delivery schedule gives hope. Until then, stay on guard.

If you read my post you’d see that I suggested FMF should have posted his comment in one of the other threads.

It doesn’t belong here at all. End of.

This isn’t the vaccine thread though. It would have been fine in the Covid vaccine thread.
It doesn’t belong here, we don’t need yet another thread derailing with all the Brexit discussions.

Pfizer warns the EU to back down on vaccine threats because the firm “heavily” depends on the country for vital ingredients.
It would serve the EU bully boys right if the UK blocked the supplies of lipid ingredients from the UK.

it just highlights that the EU approach of 'vaccine nationalism' will backfire and ultimately be lose-lose for everybody

Everywhere there are global supply chains that royally screw up such attempts at nationalism; political leaders need to inspect every link in the chain before making unilateral decisions that shoot them in their own foot.

Edit; For example, the recent shortage of giant sterile plastic bags needed for bioreactors.

NZZ of today. They write that even with Swiss Medic approval, AZ might never be used in Switzerland as BAG seems unconvinced and feels they have enough other vaccine ordered.

Indeed, and when this happens, it is best to be allies with your neighbours who hold the keys to your borders, in and out.

Groan again Tom, and some more if you wish.

But please, at least have the courtesy to explain why, when there are shortages in supply chains of any kind- it does not make sense to have good relationships with your neighbours?

It's a sad state of affairs if a Government health office can't make their decisions in a clear-headed way with facts rather than from reading too much social media, internet scare-sites and tabloid papers.
