Immigration rule slows production of vaccine

The chemical and pharmaceutical company Lonza in Valais lacks the staff to produce the Moderna vaccine.

Unfortunately that was not possible. It would have been very helpful to be able to do it there.
I have emailed the vaccine centre in Uster explaining the reason for my cancellation and hopefully they will be able to advise me what to do.
As a matter of caution I will also take a Covid test this week after my hospital stay.

Is there an app where you can get alerted to new doses arriving at the vaccine centres? Or do I need to just check daily on the vacme registration?
All of the vaccine centres seem to be totally out of appointments and I'm in a high risk group unfortunately.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Have a nice Sunday!
I manually checked my Vacme site every day, they never notified me as they said they would ... good luck!!

Here in VD they say to check back regularly (per the website) as they add appointments regularly. It was true, as I was scrolling a number of appointments became available within a week, while most everything was booked for 3-4 weeks when I started. But I have no idea if it works the same in other cantons.

I would definitely talk to your GP. I also had a hospital stay last week and my Doctor vaccinated me before I went in. Mine was a planned operation so different to your situation. I understood from her that Doctors had been instructed to vaccinate high risk patients (chronic illnesses) and that those being vaccinated according to age only should go to the vaccination centre(s).

In any event, I wish you a speedy recovery.

If it’s a reaction to the vaccine it should pass quickly. Wishing her well, she probably doesn’t deserve additional headaches

She was somewhat worried as 20 years ago,she was diagnosed with Myalgic encephalomyelitis / chronic fatigue syndrome & was told she would never walk again! We have had a few stressful days. She went for an hours walk today so hopefully back to normal in a couple of days.

I don’t really give a shit about India - they haven’t practiced any social distancing since months (selber Schuld), and just continue with their mass religious and political festivals . The country has the money and the means. Come-on- talk to an Indian co-worker here in Switzerland who doesn’t talk about corruption? Really, get a real life, and those people should stop romantising. I agree that India should be on the banned list, and it’s right that the UK has now done this. Get my first vaccination tomorrow.

I know of someone else who had a similar reaction to the second moderna. But she’s ok now. I hope your wife feels better soon! I had about 24hours of fever and aches and just tired for a couple days.

With my first shot, I had a red area at the injection site for 3 weeks. The doctor giving me my second shot said yeah, COVID arm.

Im just going to check a couple of times a day until I get new appointments or until I hear back from my GP or the vaccination center.

There is very little known about the double variant which is spreading like wildfire , so I would agree on banning flights from India, I would also agree that administration has been lax to say the least and has allowed large gatherings till a few weeks ago, Having said, people who are suffering are not necessarily the only ones who participated on those gatherings , There are many many more people who have not practiced in such gatherings but are still equally impacted by this current situation. Situation is so bad that people are dying outside the hospitals due to lack of beds and oxygen. Good luck with your Vaccination.

If only we had not outsourced lots of things to India, this is our interconnected world. We might find soon who did and what was outsourced.

What an appallingly callous, selfish view. You couldn't care less that more than 2,000 Indians are dying per day because their government has mismanaged COVID so badly?

That's frankly disgusting.

Re: Coronavirus

Well, it was about time we had a Swiss variant:

Quote:
After Great Britain, Brazil, South Africa and India, Switzerland now also has its own Corona variant. They were discovered by researchers from the medical institute IRCCS in Candiolo near Turin in collaboration with bioinformaticians from the Italian Institute for Genomic Medicine. It is just as contagious as the British mutant, the researchers say in a communiqué from the Piedmont region.

“At the weekend, the variant was sequenced in our institute,” says Antonino Sottile (58), Director General of the IRCCS in Candiolo, opposite Blick. The patient is a 57-year-old Italian from the Turin area with mild corona symptoms. It is not yet known where the man contracted the mutation. "We first have to trace the chain of infection," said the doctor.

69 percent of the world-wide mutant occurs in Switzerland

According to him, the fact that the mutated virus is called the Swiss variant is due to the frequency of its occurrence. In fact, 69 percent of the world-wide variant appears in Switzerland. According to the registration software for Corona variants “Phylogenetic Assignment of Named Global Outbreak Lineages”, PANGOLIN for short, set up by the “Center for Genomic Pathogen Surveillance”, 1123 sequencing of the new variant has already been detected in Switzerland.

Just like the Brits call the British variant the "Kent variant", we need a canton to blame for this.

Has to be TI. They won't understand that the rest of the country is blaming them, and we wouldn't understand anyway if they said anything in return.

Also, the mutation was sequenced by an Italian lab, so TI must be to.blame.
