Re: Coronavirus

Just watching some of the things the UK are planning to help those who can't work due to the virus.

Just wondering if Switzerland have announced anything similar? As ski instructors, it looks like myself and my husband are going to have no work for the rest of the winter. Not because we have the virus, but because everyone has cancelled their holidays

Well, Iím ashamed to admit that I didnít know there ski resorts in Ticino. Apparently they are all closed now.

Now GE has no ski resorts, they likely will close those as well.

Re: Coronavirus

Respect for Italian government that they take this step.

Everything besides supermarkets, pharmacies and postal offices to be closed nationwide. Factories and transport sector also allowed to continue, but besides enjoying nature and work there is simply no reason anymore for people to leave their homes, bars, restaurants etc. all closed in the entire country.

(he should strike a deal with Netflix for nationwide free Netflix)

Transportats guaranteed, industries can stil produce but departments not strictly related to production to be closed and/or moved to Smart working...
Do not rush to supermarkets - no need.
Thanks to all people in the frontline.
Effects of measures will be hopefully sen in a few weeks

That s +/- the essence - sorry for typos and form but writing from pad...

I also admire the Italian Government in these steps and the overall message that we are all responsible not just some of us and in maintaining our distance now we can embrace each other when it is over.

There are a bunch of companies working on a vaccine. One thing is to come up with a vaccine, the other would be to have it pass the rigorous tests so that people won't get affected by worse side-effects.

I have read that Gilead is working with China on a vaccine and trials will start in April. Look at this link and perhaps it has already been approved by the FDA and used for those at greatest risk:

Not a vaccine, but an antiviral that may help treatment of sufferers. If its use is approved at all it will do nothing to slow the spread of the disease - absolute best case it might reduce the mortality rate slightly.

Re: proven easy ways to kill a general cold or flu viral infection at the onset (only

Hahahaha ..

Stand on one leg, put a clothes peg on your nose and stick some zinc up yer bahookie.. Ye'll be fine.
Seems like interesting evidence of lack of reading comprehension or lack of actual reading of that post which referenced the research published years ago British Lancet and the New Englsind Journal of Medicine, the two leading and most respected medical journals in the world at the time. And of course absolutely NO mention of you absurd notion of a clothes peg or sticking zinc up, as you wrote "yer bahookie". Your absurd avatar notwithstanding, are you a fool or just fooling at a time when there is a crisis?

I suggest that individuals interested in these scientifically proven methods against the common cold and flu ... actually READ and try to understand everything noted in that post.

I have discussed this with a noted Mmcrobiologist here and he found the old research interesting and told me he would have staff investigate it.

And for the record, though the published research used clothespins, for 40 years I have avoided cold and flu infections by closing the entry to the virus-breeding sinus cavities simply using my fingers to hold my nose. And coffee and C, etc., as mentioned.

During the Bird Flu epidemic some years ago I spoke with top virologists about what is behind the following anti-virus measures and they not only confirmed the basis but gave me even more information*

Of course the Pharma Industry has not supported the following (can't make money from it) but have likely not purposely hidden it, rather their heavily advertised and promoted products have simply "swamped it out" over these almost 4 decades since first published in the New England Journal of Medicine and the British Lancet, the 2 top medical journals at the time-

Easy scientifically proven "First Aid" *supplementary "First Aid" personal protection from viral infections (only) at the first subtle onset of symptoms of such an infection

*while going to hospital, sitting in waiting room or until test results return for ex.

NOTE ADDENDUM at end of this which I discussed over the phone yesterday with a top microbiologist and which would provide a significant basis for why this has worked (nothing always works!) and he did not laugh or scoff ....

1. Most important: within very few hours of "feeling off", hold your nose closed for 20 - 40 min. (may need to be repeated several times first day or so).

About 4 decades ago reported in the then two top medical journals, the New England Journal of Medicine and the British Lancet, researchers had been investigating various "Old Wives Tales" for cures for some things and found one thing that actually worked: putting a clothespin on your nose as a cold/flu cure. Looks stupid and it hurts, but actually works! Well, using your fingers to hold your nose doesn't hurt and works even better (still looks stupid, but being sick is also stupid).

Viruses get destroyed by heat. And by fever in the body. You can gargle with 1.5% Hydrogen Peroxide (3% solution diluted 50/50 with water) to strip it out of your throat (less damage than coughing hard for weeks!), but the virus will keep coming back even stronger, growing and dripping down from the sinus cavities. It is cooler than body temperature in the sinus cavities, so holding the nose (esp. with warm fingers) allows normal body heat to hinder and kill the virus! The virus grows exponentially so this must be done within scant hours of noticing cold or flu symptoms. The corona virus is also susceptible to heat, but I cannot absolutely verify this technique specifically against it too (yet, and hopefully never). But, having read from a virologist that heat (yet unclear to me exactly how much is enough) will kill COV-19 there is good reason to think it will have an effect!

However, using this technique and the others below I have not gotten worrisome flu or colds for DECADES, the exception being when I delay for the first day and only start on the 2nd day, when everyone else has a strong flu for 2 or more weeks, mine is gone in less than just one week. Gotta be quick!

B.t.w., this must be what the body is trying to do by having your nose get stuffed ... but unfortunately it is mostly too little, too late to really work well. Fingers holding your nose closed well BEFORE your nose gets stuffed DOES work. And then you don't have a runny OR stuffed nose (if you act quickly enough).

2. Unless dying from a super-high fever ... do NOT take aspirin! It IS the fever which the body uses to kill the virus!

IMPORTANT: this is for "normal" colds & viruses, but COVID-19 can in fact very quickly (or day-to day) raise the fever temperature to life-threatening levels, so this is a sign to get medical help FAST if the fever keeps rising! However if the nose-closing "trick" works, the results will be almost immediately obvious (and you can hold your nose on the way to the hospital, in the waiting room and till test results return)

3. Coffee! The virus does best when you don't get hot from exercise and moving around, so it has evolved to make you feel like crap and not move (natural selection). Coffee energizes you and strengthens muscles. Most over-the-counter cold medicines contain caffeine! Lots of coffee helps your body kill the virus. Of course, if you are dying, then you need to be in a hospital and not running around at that point.

4. All the normal stuff like Vit C and B-complex and chelated Zinc help (Zn helps skin heal, even in throat & nose, etc.) .... but so does real chicken soup (make your own with a piece of chicken + spices, esp. including lots of garlic which boosts the immune system). Apparently domestic chickens living around humans for millennia have developed an enzyme specifically against our cold & flu viruses. Of course this has not been yet proven to work against the novel COVID-19 virus .... but has for me worked for the almost 40 yrs. I've used it when needed against "normal" cold & flu viral infections, and even if it only will work against them, they would free the immune system to focus more on COVID-19!

Note: all of the above should be considered as an adjunct to -- i.e., not instead of! -- what is being advised by the top medical professionals worldwide against COVID-19 (incl. vaccination if they develop and prove that, etc.) .... but may preclude hospital visits. And increase cure rates.

* It started because I noticed that the birds who were efficient fliers were the ones getting sick (long distance geese taking off with wet feet and raptors soaring and not flapping; as well as those not flapping around, for ex. chicken-farm cooped chickens and one caged parrot in routine London airport quarantine). But the little birds and pigeons did NOT get sick. When I chase my Budgies their unfeathered feet get HOT for ca. the first room-length part of a flight, but by the time they've gone though 2 or 3 rooms non-stop they are already cool! (of course the rest of their body also gets hot then, but you can't feel it through the feather covering). The Re (Reynolds Numbers) when they start is very low and inefficient as well as the force needed to accelerate to flying speed with bending feathers under the load gets them very hot very fast: think JATO boost for zero-length launched fighters in the 50's > lotsa work needed .... as well as for the bird to stop fast again in a very short flight!

ADDENDUM

Been thinking more about this and it may well be that the virus inhibiting or destroying effect of fever on these viruses probably includes the fact that the heat of the fever is due to more intense blood flow .... and that would be also bringing more immune system defense cells along with the heat per se. And of course these immune system cells in contrast to the virus would not be damaged by warm blood flow so there would be a double anti-viral action. Which nicely fits with the proven fact that heating the body externally does not ruin the viruses while blood flow fever generally does (within limits). And why hard exercise (for healthy individuals) can also work against infections from these cold & flu viruses.

Ban still applies if you have been in the Schengen in the last 14 days. One would need to stay in UK for that long; of course, that is if they don't enact the
same ban in the morning.
