On 18 March 2021, German regional leaders including State Premiers and the mayor of Berlin called for the swift approval of the Russian vaccine that is under review by the European Medicines Agency to counteract the acute shortages of effective vaccines in Europe.
German medical experts have recommended its approval also, and consider the Sputnik Vaccine "clever" and "highly safe".

Slovakia and Hungary have at least emergency approval for Sputnik V.
I would have thought that Russia and the CIS needed every dose they can find.

Re: Coronavirus

If I understand correctly, the Russian Sputnik vaccine is a "classic vaccine" in the sense that it uses deactivated Covid virus to create an immune response. If I had to choose amongst this one vs, the mRNA variants, I would choose this one.

PS - As TinyK points out, I have my Russian vaccines confused. Here is an article I found that describes the 3 that Russia has developed thus far: https://www.dw.com/en/two-more-russi...now/a-56811025

Which is actually a pretty good vaccine, but in the west politics say no.

So much for following the science.

And where are the abusive PMs that you said I wrote?

And where's the name calling on anti-vaxers?

Would you like to hear who posted abuse about my kids? Everyone's favourite poster?
When in a hole, stop digging.

You told a blatant lie about me. And rather than backing off and retracting that you are digging deeper.

Probably, that too. The vaccination campaigns have started with much enthusiasm and we were in the first places in Europe for quite some time after the vaccines were approved and started being used, now folks are more hesitant (not in the least because the R number is somewhere around 0.2). The trend can reverse anytime. I don't see the issues as long as people follow the restrictions that are still in place.
Yup, and that's a problem. My point is that there's time now, and more than enough jabs available. When seasnality hits (it looks like that's not an if) with the start of autumn and infections go back up, the jabs available today will have been sold and more people than necessary unprotected.

Yes you did. I've gone as far as you and your chums have gone but I can go further if you want and your last antagonist post seems to suggest you want do want it.

If you, MC, Fduvall, FMF, MFG, Tony Clifton, Codpeace (not sure of his new forum name), V_ want this forum to become some far-right, neo-fascist, Christian-evangelical, conspiracy theory sound board then apart from about five people, there's really no one else to stop you as they've all left.

You have the support of most of the mods too apparently.

So, carry on but post any more lies and slander and you'll get the same in return.

I may be far gone but it will never be as far as you.

Don't flatter yourself.

You're the ones who love the conspiracy theories... whatever floats your boat.

I'm sure you don't socialise outside the forum but you sure are in an unpleasant clique when you're in it. Your choice though.

It would be interesting to see that mapped against vaccination rates.
They're pretty much the same in all four nations, see the 2nd-last chart. And the increase is linear (so far).

Impotent mods let that happen, or thanked the original posts (Fatmanfilms and MC) so it's obvious this behaviour is acceptable to the new mod team.

I never suggested that.

Which groups do love a good conspiracy theory?

The far-right.
The U.S. evangelical church.
Anti-vaxxers.
Trump supporters.

I'm not in any of these groups. Are you?

I'm not sure about Sputnik V, but I understand the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine consists of deactivated Covid viruses.

Both the Chinese and Russian vaccines apparently have less side effects than most of the western ones.

I understand there are several further vaccines in the pipeline which may well be available by autumn. And will hopefully have some advantages over the present lot.

No, it's not. It's a modern vaccine like AstraZeneca but instead of chimpanzee virus it uses human adenoviruses of two different types for different doses. A classic Russian vaccine is called CoviVac, it's something similar to Chinese CoronaVac and Sinopharm. Russia also has a third vaccine EpiVacCorona that doesn't work, but they are using is nevertheless.

Possible. But unless they changed the procedures, the contracting party is the EU Comission who will spread the jabs among all EU countries, presumably proportionally to population size. So it will be difficult to gain back what has been "lost" by selling the doses to the Dutch.

Of course it's better to sell them on than to let them go to waste, IIRC some vaccines have less than two months shelf life. But that's a different issue, and if that was the reason the Rumanians would probably include some clause for them to get paid back in kind later on instead of selling them outright.
