I don't understand the game the Swiss authorities are playing at all. I also wonder why worldometer reports 6 deaths but no critical patients. At all. Ever.
Probably and simply because that is a number the Swiss don't report. Like several other countries.

Education as a physicist, engineer, and involvement in many successful mass-mkt inventions I have created and developed requires logic and the proper interpretation of data. Got it? Data gathering plus logical interpretation to produce useful, working and reproducible results has been a cornerstone of my life's work (making tons of money for others, a bit for me in the process).

But I definitely accept your point about MBA's (though mine is in Production Management).

What I find amusing is the seeming lack of the use and application of the Scientific Method by far too many folks in their own lives. The motto of my undergrad uni was "Use What Works" (based on the early 20th century Vienna School of Logic).

But I digress

P.S. Except for the New England Journal of Medicine and British Lancet references (which are pre-Internet and would need to be found in a large medical library I suppose), I have posted nothing which is other than "anecdotal" and have made no claims otherwise. Right?
That still does not make you knowledgeable or an expert on medical issues, especially because what you quoted to be true is not correct and only your personal experience. Simple as that

Does anyone know what a non-composulary school is ? (I.e what Ticino has closed?)
I think it means, for example, a voluntary education programme, such as a language school, dance school, night-school for adults learning programming, etc., and for children extra-curricular activities such as classes in singing, dancing or sports, or perhaps extra lessons for academic support, or homework groups.
I don't think that's right. My daughters (recently through the system) say it's primary and secondary. Does not include gymnasium, FMS, VMS, BMS...

Several people have mentioned there's definitely something up with the schools. A lot of preparation meetings behind the scenes. My guess is at least post mandatory schooling like Tessin, maybe more. And there was a petition in VD with some 8,000 signatures to close schools, so I would hope they'd do something in response.

Nothing to see here! Keep calm and carry on etc. Seems clear to me that the Swiss government have decided that a few hundred/thousand deaths are less important than disruption to the economy.

They have not decided anything. They are incompetent at making decisions. Thats obvious

Everything that is not Kindergarten, the 5 years of primary school, or the 4 years of secondary school.

Does anyone know if the pharmacies still sell alcohol for disinfection? Or it's already gone like masks?

Just use alcohol for fondue burners and dilute it 30%.

Well, all I have stated is in fact true (my experiences plus the medical references which can be presumably looked up in a large medical library). Claiming that it is not true (rather than not fitting with your own experience or what you read or think you know) is calling me a liar.

Wonderful. "Stick & Stones" is far from proof, fella

If you despise or disagree with what I have posted, be brave and honest and say so (I dare you!). Else just write that you and others disagree and that they don't sell pieces of paper in the pharmacy telling everyone to drink coffee, hold their nose when they first feel sick with a cold or flu (NOT if they suspect CORVID-19, eh?!), don't take aspirin for a mild fever ... and don't buy over-the-counter cold remedies (lotsa money in that, eh?). Those are FACTS (that the pharma industry didn't grow so large and powerful by being outright stupid).

And the fact here is that you disagree with what I have posted and that you (and some others) are calling me a liar (and/or a fool by implication).

An intelligent thing to do would be to try some of what I posted and find out for yourself if doing that at the first subtle sign of a cold (not CORVID-19!) does anything.

Arguing that I have an MBA and am not a doctor is falling into the logical trap of the "Genetic Fallacy". Plus disregarding my scientific and engineering background. Just because a doctor says something does not necessarily make it true either. A few years ago I went into a ZH clinic with severe back pain, was X-rayed and told I needed an MRI scan and surgery. Knowing that my friend had badly injured her knee, had such MRI scans and told by several (2 or more) doctos that she needed surgery. i did research, advised her to go for physical therapy, etc., and that fixed it. Turned out that the several doctors had misinterpreted the MRI scan, but the physical therapist found and fixed the problem!

So I took the X-rays I'd payed for, examined them, found the problem, and changed my sleeping and exercise positions and the back is now fixed too! Of course some doctors are smart, but definitely not all. Same with people.

I used to regularly be asked to be on TV and the subject of many large-city newspaper articles, some many pages long (under my real name), also NEWSWEEK and OMNI, and supported by well-respected and better-known scientists, educators and govt. folks (dealing with R&D, etc.) and know that my innovations and discoveries can not only have merit, but are reproducible as well. One of my mass-mkt inventions had been (illegally) copied, etc. more than 50x by over 25 different companies in just the 1st year alone (it's still happening). I don't complain, that's life.

That doesn't prove my "anecdotal" statements (the published research references do for the nose-thing in my 1st post) but would involve the "Genetic Fallacy". Only actually trying them will (what, you hate coffee? rather blow your nose hard for weeks rather than hold it for some minutes? afraid to try something you didn't know about? ...that is your right, but arguing about it is pointless [I do enjoy debate, as you may have observed]).

Don't like what I post, don't read it ....

Re: Coronavirus

(honest)I sort of hope they will close daycare, not just to stop a spreading but also since I will start keeping my kid at home as of Monday till it is deemed safe again, and it would save a lot of money if it isn't purely on me he is not going. He just got better from another disease and is having a couple of days there now this week, and he absolutely enjoys it so I take the risk and let him have those days with the other kids and mudslides and all. But on the other hand. There are 200 kids there, with the current spread rates we might as well inject ourselves voluntarily with corona to have it over with and see how we end up. But I rather not.(/honest)

Italy's new numbers are sort of insane to me, and they are far from having solved this so the numbers will only become more insane.

Just got e-mail message from EasyJet saying I can re-book my flight to UK next week without a fee- should I decide not to travel next week. But how can I re-book without knowing what will happen in next few weeks or months?

Assume it's all screwed until at least June.

Re: Coronavirus

As someone else here mentioned, there is a press conference scheduled here tomorrow. Now that France has closed all schools, maybe CH is feeling more compelled to take such measures as well.
In regard to the above post, I think daycares should be closed. Those places are such breeding grounds for viruses. We had norovirus three times while our son was in daycare.
