Poll on SRF on vaccinations. Not only by party affiliation, but also by profession.

Not surprised that greens are the second most antivax

What will you do if after 12 months the Covid certificate is invalid and you still need it for travel etc?
You'll need to keep on getting shots until somebody decided to change the law.

I had my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the end of January and out of curiosity asked to have my antibody levels measured during a routine blood test last week.
I still had bucketloads of them even though I am on immunosuppressant medication so I’m not concerned about needing a booster at the moment.
Thank you for sharing that. That's reassuring to know. I assume that since you had a second jab, you never had Covid (?) and therefore any antibodies that you currently have are due to the vaccine.

Not quite sure why that would be dangerous. You spit into it?
Well, with the spit test, you put a vial of fluid into your mouth, swish it around for one minute and then spit it back out. (I only know this because my son has brought home two spit-tests before, as part of the random pool-testing being done at his school, which we signed him up for).

Two-level discrimination has arrived.
Malta just announced it is the first EU country to ban foreign visitors who are not fully vaccinated.
I wonder if this will be a one-off or start a trend, one can understand countries trying to protect their citizens and their health services.
I can a understand a country not wanting a bunch of un-vaccinated tourists coming in and potentially getting and spreading the virus and then crowding the emergency rooms and hospitals.

I had never, to my knowledge, had Covid and the antibody test proved that.

The antibody test I had shows two types of antibody, those from natural infection and those from vaccination. I had loads of the second type.

Interesting... Thank you again. I didn't know that such an antibodies test even existed (one that can show you the two types). I'm going to ask my dr. about getting one.

How is it exactly called (or just simply ask for an antibody test)? I'm planning to have a test after my second shot.

Boris Johnson announced a couple of hours ago that on 19th July virtually all Covid restrictions will go. No masks, no social distancing, no work from home orders, night clubs reopening, basically everything back to normalcy. About time too! Hopefully Switzerland will follow the example in the coming weeks. The message is clearly Covid is something we have to live with.
Too soon for a victory dance
UK minister Nadhim Zahawi says mask-wearing will be 'expected' after 19 July.

Malta went from 0-5 cases a day, 3 days in a week 0 cases, to about 100 cases a day, 90% were unvaccinated & most cases were students at language schools. This explosion happened in just over a week.

That’s not quite true.
Visitors from other countries (even those with a variant of concern such as the UK) can visit Switzerland even if they are unvaccinated but they have to quarantine on arrival and have a negative PCR test before departure.
Nope.
Quote:
Who is not permitted to enter Switzerland?
Foreign nationals without proof of a recognised vaccination (see question "How can I prove that I am vaccinated?") seeking to travel to Switzerland from a SEM high-risk country for a stay here of up to three months without a visa and who do not meet any of the requirements under "Who is permitted to enter Switzerland?" are not permitted to enter Switzerland. These persons include:
Persons who wish to obtain services in Switzerland;
Tourists, visitors and participants in events;
Persons who wish to come to Switzerland for medical treatment that has not yet begun or that is not regarded as urgently required;
Persons seeking employment or who have been invited for a job interview in Switzerland;
Persons who wish to submit an application for a residence permit
SEM high risk country = the whole world with a few exceptions (EU, some small non-EU European countries & some first world countries like US, Australia etc)

Don't confuse SEM rules and BAG rules. My parents are not allowed to come because they don't live in the country from the white list. This has nothing to do with BAG quarantine rules.

Anyone of any nationality can come from anywhere now, if they are fully vaccinated with the following;

Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2 / Comirnaty® / Tozinameran)
Moderna (mRNA-1273 / Spikevax / COVID-19 vaccine Moderna)
AstraZeneca (AZD1222 Vaxzevria®/ Covishield™)
Janssen / Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
Sinopharm / BIBP (SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell))
Sinovac (CoronaVac)

This is not true. The best way to find out is using the travel checker tool https://travelcheck.admin.ch/home Enter the details for an unvaccinated tourist from UK and the computer says NO.

CH doesn't allow unvaccinated visitors apart from the EU and few more countries from the white list.

I think there must be different types of spit tests. When I had mine, the tech put two rather large cotton swabs under my tongue and waited 30 seconds. Then he swabbed around a bit before breaking each one into a separate tube. I had heard from friends that they had to spit into a tube, but none said they had to swish anything in the mouth. If anything, it was hard to generate enough saliva.

I just went through this programme out of interest and it said unvaccinated Brits need a test and quarantine - which was my understanding...

It was first identified in Peru in August 2020 so unlikely to be a world-beater but it is still the early days and more information is needed.
