I had to ask the community how to use it at the time . Still the best 999 CHF I ever spent on technology.

Welcome to the club. I'm not Apple fanboy but happily using a MBP since 2005, I could never use anything else

Work wise still using MS Windows and while it has improved dramatically IMHO, it's a far cry from the reliability/efficiency of my MBP

It's the reliability that is so amazing, I just changed the original hard drive for a SSD from China for $50, not bad in almost 9 years.

This graph is making the assumption that people who have been through COVID naturally do not have a lower risk of hospitalization or reinfection.

It also does not take into account that a population with a lower level of vaccination will be likely to facilitate the natural spread and thus lead to higher levels of natural immunity.

The thread has wondered in various directions in the past, nobody is being rude, why cause trouble? Your post adds little, it's not abusive so nothing to edit. Remember this is in the 'Daily life' section of the forum, soon it can be moved to Off Topic

I was hoping the thread would die a natural death as the no of hospital cases drop.

On EF it's always the threads that one wished would go away that take the longest to die.

Been using Apple products since about 1992 and went through the period that they were getting rather threadbare. I considered dumping my loyalty more than once. They managed to fix those problems somehow and I'm very happy with my present iMac which is now more than 10 years old and still doing absolutely fine.

Meanwhile my work Windows machine causes me untold suffering.

If you can sleep better then, feel free to replace "vaccinated" with "immunized". My point was to counter the misleading headlines that the number of breakthroughs would be so bad that a "high share of newly admitted are double vaxxed".

Re: Coronavirus

OK, something else

What's with those plexiglass or whatever face coverings?

I thought they were briefly popular some time last year and then vanished as their usefulness was debunked.

Is it just me seeing them everywhere or are they making a comeback?

I've noticed a few of them recently, I thought everybody was told they were pretty much useless and to stop wearing them?
I'd say it is this warm muggy weather that has people breaking them out again, that or that people are becoming less cautious.

We were encouraged to eat food that had fallen on the floor when I was a kid.

3 second rule - I'd still risk it depending if I know the floor is clean (i.e. in my own apartment)

The whole point was to eat it off the floor that was not 100% sterile as the dog had probably been lying there earlier. The idea was to build a good immune system.

I guess it worked as in 36 years I only took 10 days off work sick, 7 were in hospital with Peritonitis after the hospital did not believe I could have driven to hospital with a perforated appendix, 3 days was for flu. I since survived COVID before it was identified as such.

yup

when I was a kid we used to pull up carrots, wipe the excess soil off with our fingers and then eat them as they were.

I'm sure H&S folks would have a fit today if any kid did that.

I think this is connected with cancelling of the mask wearing obligation at the workplace.
