Actually, what FairDinkum is saying is that after 2020, the narrative appeared to have changed.

You don't have to believe it, but have a look at information about masking that shows up before 2020. Would it be interesting (to you) if the older information contradicted the post you cited?
So I googled and found "during the 2018 flu epidemic, cities around the world passed mandatory masking orders", is this what you meant?

Just wondering.

Are there any variants that are not of concern?

And if there are, surely exposing people to them intentionally might be a good alternative to vaxxing.
yes there are variants of no concern
Variants of no concern will not survive for long
there is no way of exposing people to them intentionally other than by vaccination - in essence, this is what a vaccine jab does. All ideas of herd immunity without vaccination (and maybe booster jabs are necessary) involve an unethical amount of suffering, deaths and swamped health systems

Re: Coronavirus

I was shopping in Germany this week and three shopkeepers told me they plan to permanently close their shops at the end of September.

The reason they gave is they foresee another major lockdown and they do nit have the financial reserves to survive that.

Difficult times, I hope they are wrong.

This has already happened in Spain. When I was there last (early July) I was struck by the number of shop units with for sale signs, among them many long established and much appreciated family businesses and restaurants. This is a small town in the Alicante area but not a typical tourist hotspot as they also have manufacturing industries and commerce as sources of employment so you can't blame it all on the loss of tourism.

But we have not even enjoyed the gamma version thoroughly yet around here?
I read "lambada" and was looking forward to a cheerful version for a change. Ah well.....

In view of the very significantly fewer number of tests maybe TC is wrong after all...

Not good news

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has collected data that suggest fully vaccinated Americans who contract the Delta variant can spread Covid-19 as easily as unvaccinated people infected with the variant.
