I'm not underinterpreting, I'm telling you what's happening in Italy, whithout the need to write clickbaiting stuff. Have you checked the sources of the ''news'' you quote? Of corse not. Well, I have.
Good for you. The sos news we are getting in CZ is from the Czech medical staff employed in Northern Italy. They signalled that there is triage, 2 days ago. NYT quotes a mayor from Northern Italy complaining of some patients no longer being given treatment.

My advice . Don't listen to the MAINSTREAM!. Live your life as normal!
Wow. I actually agree with you. TBH I am less worried about the virus as I am with mass panic which I feel is slowly starting to build. See: The Great Toilet Paper Panic of 2020.
I think it would be a smart idea if Migros, Coop, Aldi etc, had some sort of mass panic buying prevention measures. Hopefully they already do. People tend to lose their shit when they see empty shelves.

Wrong.

Take the time to read if not the document mentioned, at least the article in your link.
The document talks about recommendations to follow in case the situation should become impossible to deal with. The authors themselves stated that the intention was to stimulate a reaction to avoid getting to that point.
We're still a long way from that point.
What Italy is doing is precisely to avoid being at this point.
Until now in Italy no doctor has had to choose which patient to treat and which to let die.
Please, the subject is serious, it also requires seriousness to talk about it in a public forum.
I read the link and it says:

"There are now simply too many patients for each one of them to receive adequate care. Doctors and nurses are unable to tend to everybody. They lack machines to ventilate all those gasping for air."

How is that not having to choose?

It is expected that Western civilisation will end because of the shortage of toilet paper...

It will be 10 years next week since my mum passed away .
yep. will be 11 years in march- after years and years of jumping on planes after a phone call from neighbour then care home- mum went just a few weeks before we moved here- and I wasn't there to be with her ... I regretted it for a long time, but now I realise she probably needed to go her way.

It's a better solution than cheap single ply, I don't like to get in touch with my inner self too much.

Posts about toilet paper? You mean ya'll haven't yet moved beyond that and on to using reusable cloth? Dermatologically, economically, ecologically and comfort-wise better.

I think this is the situation which people are not mentally prepared for. The idea that care might simply not be available.

I'm as concerned about the social impacts and systemic failures as I am of the virus.

The World Health Organization has declared that dogs cannot transmit Coronavirus, and there is no reason to quarantine dogs anymore.

W.H.O. let the dogs out!

(It's actually true, too, although I think it was the World Organisation for Animal Health -- OIE, for some reason -- but then the joke doesn't really work that well...)

The Italians at least have bidets systematically, so they are better prepared than most nations for this eventually. They won't make the mistake that the ancient Romans made!

re: covery (seems like for me and an American in USA)

As a special treat for some here who think they know more, are smarter and more experienced in analysis of NEW things, ideas and solutions, here is some more "anecdotal evidence" (i.e., not scientifically double-blind proven!) posted here merely as "food for thought" (for those used to analytical thinking in conditions of uncertainty) in an exchange last night on a somewhat technical American forum

please note my own logical conclusion in my second post there at the end of this

posted by me

Easily due to other things, but less than 2 weeks ago for the first time I can remember in my life I had a very painfully sore throat, hurt to swallow. Not good and unsure of the cause (ate some food handed me by a friend who was always around lots of "questionable" people) but definitely not considering COVID-19, rather that my throat had gotten somehow infected with something (and maybe by a slight postnasal drip), I did steps 1. -3. in the thread I posted about stopping common cold & flu-type infections.

So first the nose holding with fingers for over 30 min, then the 50/50 (1.5%) H2O2 gargle, then lots of coffee, C, B-50 and Zn. Didn't have to get to the chicken soup phase because over the next 2 -3 days the very sore throat slowly but surely vanished totally. But the next week, also for the first time in my life, from what I thought was severe asthma-allergy coughing in the morning (stopped with coffee and Ventaline for asthma whenever needed) which I assumed was from my neighbors' excessive cig-smoke seeping into the bedroom ... the entire front of my chest really hurt. I could breathe, so I determined it was just sore muscles from that coughing (since my lungs seemed clear and could take in air, just the muscles hurt). But I have in my life many times coughed hard with no ensuing muscle pain.

So I guessed that since I also felt unusually weak and tired overall (I still went on a long mtn-bike ride for healthy exercise), as after one has overcome a serious flu, that maybe those muscles had gotten virally-invaded or not repaired by lack of sleep. Like after a flu.

Anyway, all went away and now am back to normal (no comments, pls).
Well, it could have been a cold-thing (or not): just now found out this area is now full of COVID-19 cases .... and a woman with whom I have been singing and being closely next to for some weeks now just told me that she has "a nasty cold" and that her husband works here in an Italian firm with Italians visiting regularly from Italy till a few days ago! Anyway she followed the WHO advice plus my own (nose-close, coffee, etc.) and is getting over whatever ailed her.

I went to the immediate clinic, but only when the cough got really tough to kick. I had already had the fever but I noticed a change in the cough that made me concerned about pneumonia. They immediately gave me a mask to wear. They prescribed Ventolin and some other stuff which I didn't get filled. I only used the Ventolin in the morning, once in the afternoon and then again before bed. I don't drink liquor but bought a bottle of Svedka Vodka and sipped it until it was gone a few days later. I experienced the painful chest muscles that I also thought was strange. It took me exactly a week before I felt ok to go to work.

You didn't mention a hoarse voice, but I actually lost mine for several days. That was a new one for me.

Wow! "Thanks for sharing"

Well, it's not a scientific "double-blind" test, but your experience is similar enough to mine that you and I both know that something works against something. As a result, and from training in the wild & wonderful world of the magic of Experimental Physics, I am heartened that we both have recovered from what may well have been this potentially nasty novel virus.

For my part, from both logic and experience, I will not (in my case) simply assume "done, finished", and will continue to follow both the WHO & CDC-recommended protocols .... plus my own, as posted in the thread I started to prevent cold & flu viruses (at the onset only), "just to be safe/er".

Good Luck and thanks again for posting!

Not a problem, if you have a single piece 1.2 km long and don't try to fold it more than 12 times.

Eh? 250 in Italy, 100 in CH. Both as of yesterday. CH needs another week or so to catch up.
