Re: Coronavirus

And now Spain declares state of emergency.

Spain’s government will on Friday declare a state of emergency over the coronavirus outbreak, La Sexta television said. The so-called “state of alert” that La Sexta said the government would announce is the first of three stages of a state of emergency.
It lasts 15 days and would allow the government to take wide-ranging measures including confining people or ordering evacuations.

Whereas the UK seems to be going for 'Blah, blah, blah. Herd immunity. Good luck"
Maybe it's nevitable and Spain/other governemnts are playing to the crowd?

Just to be precise, they are going to distance learning for all establishments (obligatory, post obligatory, public, private).

And the acceuil (7-18h30), is also available, under certain conditions. In particular to protect the vulnerable population.

Yes. Teachers might be called in to supervise those classes.

Which means, my kid is leaving school today with all her books/cahiers. Students were inforned it is not holidays, they should avoid groups and public transport. They were told to stay in. Not visit eachother.

I am leaving work ready with material to teach through distance.

Just have to find the TP somewhere.

Widespread infection is inevitable and likely already has happened, due to the incubation period we are as for knowing the spread actually looking a couple of days in the past when only testing people with symptoms, so we only know how many severe cases we have based on the spread from previous week.

What can be (sort of) controlled however is how fast we let any further spreading run its course, the slower it goes the longer it lasts but the more lives we likely can save since hospitals get smaller spikes.

Many large supermarkets have checkout counters with staff wearing petrol pump style gloves, with another going round the checkout spraying antiseptic on checkout surfaces, every so often.

animated graph of the day.

For those who think they're strong and it doesn't matter being infected, is plain selfish.

(Lol, a lot of Swiss News sites are also down due to traffic)

I stopped watching all the details but this is what I remember as for main points.

Schools close till the 4th of April, nationwide. (Homeschooling might happen, but the buildings close)

Events and recreational things like museums are only allowed with less than 100 people.

Bars, Restaurants and Disco's are only allowed 50 people in the building.

Border with Italy only remains open for borderworkers and Swiss who need to return home.

10 Billion Chf available to support companies who can't pay salaries anymore or have reduced working time.

For the rest some advices about avoiding public transport when old and traffic hours in general in public transport and such.

Overstated in that report. Most daily traffic (an awful lot of Austrians work in FL and CH) continues.
