About homemade hand disinfectant with alcohol to burn for Fondue.....I think it's not a good idea.

The hand disinfectants are made to be safe. Meaning, the alcohol absorption through your skin and lungs is below toxic levels in humans. Using other types of alcohol may end up in intoxication. The smaller humans known as children are more vulnerable due to smaller bodies where to spread the toxic substance.

Just 2 or 3 days ago we were making jokes about some dead guys in Iran due to alcohol poisoning. Don't be like those guys. Use super safe soap and water
It's almost pure ethanol, and to absorb enough through you skin to matter you'd need to take a bath in it for many hours in it.

As is the case with Ticino.

Tom
As is the case with Geneva / Vaud. Geneva is at least 84,000 a day. Not sure about Vaud but it will be in the 10s of thousands.

Seems like France has ordered all ski resorts to close :-(

Waiting to see how that will affect us here in the PdS, expecting an announcement tomorrow...

There was a rumour that in Italy they are now deciding which cases they will simply let die. No support. Its supposed to be fake news!

That's why tobacco and marijuana smoke are inhaled. Your lungs are literally made to absorb things from air. It's not the skin from the hands, it's your lungs

Ah, you don't need one. I guess border control would issue a missing person bulletin if you didn't show up for two days.
You didn't get a passport or ID?? Tightwad!

Seems me posting that I didn't get any (and I wanted it for the Fondue burner and that burner only), this discussion has started.
Nope, it's not a good idea. Let's just believe entire Switzerland wants to eat Fondue right now.

Graubunden also. I saw that Jungfrau took down their 'We're open!' ticker.

Ever since they've said not to touch your face, it won't stop itching. My eyes, my cheeks, my ears, aaahhh. I'm grabbing my OH and going to the Outer Hebrides. See you when it's all over.

Looks like schools in Neuchâtel might close too- kids have been told today to take everything home, just in case.
Until April 30th at least and maybe even longer.
Some emergency childcare will be offered for parents who have no possibility of caring for their children themselves.

Re: Coronavirus

More reasons to bike to work, I also observe more people walking to work from nearby.

need your advise on this: I have a former colleague who is born Swiss but have relocated to her mother's home country Spain since he left the company some 6 years ago. Last year he started working again in CH on short assignments and been staying with me for 1 to 3 nights. I was OK with this, since November last year 3 nights became one week and then Months. Lately he got local employment on what I see is now a permanent job.

He goes on a cycle where is out of CH for a few days and coming back to stay for 2-3 weeks. Basically he moved in without me realizing. I would not have agreed if he asked even if he offered to share the rent. I already have issues with his heavy smoking indoors, all night long. Plus other issues I wont mention. I was patiently waiting for him to move out on his own as he kept telling me he will. His last departure 2 weeks ago had no indication he'll move out when he comes back.

Now the corona virus situation has worsened. I cleaned/laundered everything in the bedroom he occupies and packed all his things nicely in his suitcase ready to pick up anytime. Would that be too rude? He has a lot of things in my cellar too but that is not a concern at the moment.

As usual I don't know when he will be back, he would just watsapp me when already in transit. If ever, this will be his first trip back into CH after the virus got worst. I am afraid he will show up late one night with no alternative place to go and I would not want him to set foot in my apartment after traveling thru airports and unknown locations.

My problem is how to tell him that I can not allow him in anymore in a way that would not hurt our friendship. I owe him the kindness and support several times when we were still together at work, especially when I was new in the country.

Apologies for the TLDR, advises please.

I can just hear folks in a week's time that kids are bored, I might just start "How to keep kids happy through quarantine" thread now. Mine wants to sew a mask. I am happy with piano, publishing and a decent spring cleaning. Chlorine wash is apparently useless.

LOL, don't forget spring break, you'll be deaf in 5 weeks :P

They are not coherent with their rulings. No events with more than 100 people, no bars with more than 50, museums only 100 people, all schools closed, and my daycare with 200 kids is unaffected by any of the rules...
