DHL? I’ve never had an invoice from them that I considered reasonable. Double the Government charges, at least.

I urge shippers NOT to use DHL, but regretfully they ignore me.
DHL currently is the best and quickest transporter. Next day delivery for Europe, 2 days for USA and 3 days for Australia. Nobody can beat them.

Their customs procedures are million times better than Die Post. Nobody is clearing as fast as them through customs

Re: Coronavirus

Just got confirmation about the Titlis remaining open for skiing.

Also, just heard an audio message from Hoch YBrig that they will remain open as well. They received permission from the Kanton that as long as they limit the tram occupancy to 50 people (restaurants as well), they are good to go. Good news.

I expect the others to follow suit with similar restrictions as it only makes sense.

I concur, they are dreadful and far more expensive than La Poste.

Re: Coronavirus

Although both Swiss & Italian Ski resorts are closed, The French resort of Chamonix will remain open.

English translation provided by Chamonix lift company.

Press release Compagnie du Mont-Blanc
Chamonix le 13/03/2020

COVID-19 - UPDATE

Dear clients & partners,

To nip in the bud the rumours that are rife in the Chamonix Valley at the moment, we are delighted to confirm that all our lifts, ski areas & tourist sites, continue to offer service as normal & will continue to do so until further notice unless there are new governmental directives to the contrary.

During this most difficult period for all economic structures, be it for our partners, our clients & our staff, the pursuit of our activity is of the highest importance. We will do everything in our power to ensure that installations can function in the best possible conditions in total respect of the sanitary recommendations, notably the distance between clients & all cleaning procedures.

Re: Coronavirus

Vaud is implementing the "no more than 50 people gatherings" measure. Looks like queueing outside supermarkets is about to begin... Apparently food shopping hit record heights today according to the local rag, 24 heures.

This also applies at food markets, the herding is going to be interesting.

Still no confinement of most affected towns though, because they don't dare tell us which places are the most affected when we're the Canton with the most cases! Nuts!

And they always email me; Delivery expected dd/mm «by the end of the day». Useless.

Graubunden also. I saw that Jungfrau took down their 'We're open!' ticker.

Jungfrau.ch banner is back. They are open, at least for the weekend anyway.

Re: Coronavirus

also
Mountain railway tickets
In this special case, the Zermatt mountain railways offer guests flexible re-booking options for pre-purchased ski passes, event tickets and mountain experiences (except vouchers). Guests can transfer their booked ticket free of charge to another date until 02.05.2021.

So I presume mountain railways means the whole shop.

Ski resorts with cabins including rotating one up the Titlis are far from ideal. People standing 2 metres apart in cabins??

Re: Coronavirus

The ski area is open tomorrow but my daughter's ski club has been cancelled because the trainings have to be stopped as per the current measures. I was hoping to close the season this weekend as snow conditions are getting worse quickly anyway with this weather, but now wife and daughter are not motivated at all anymore and fully in Spring mood.

It's not just them. All tourist transport is now cancelled. CFF are to maintain minimum public transport but the Federal Council advises to avoid rush hours and that employers should favour this by ajusting working hours. We'll see if this amounts to anything, I doubt it.

I'm noticing the shelves slowly becoming more and more bare in our local Migros (I live in Greifensee -- canton Zurich). I went there today and most of the flour was gone as well as much of the pasta.

Has there been much queueing at grocery stores in Italy? I haven't seen too much about what's been going on there, exactly, in that regard... and really have no idea what to expect here.

How is everyone doing with babysitter plans for all these children who are meant to be penned up at home? I hope you have a plan sorted out, but I imagine there are spare teenagers in your vicinity, if you trust them with your kids.

Local governments offer support and spots for those who due to their work have no other choice than to find a daycare spot. Also a truckload of people have started to work from home.
