Re: Coronavirus

For those worried about being blocked from entering their country of origin, so far you should be OK but expect to be quarantined on arrival for at least 14 days. Poland just closed their border to foreigners and Poles returning will be quarantined. Denmark has taken identical measures.

Another bit of news I got from home is that China is trying to shift the blame/responsibility for Covid19, onto the US.

The go order was given on May 31, 2017 by Trump himself.

Which is sort of good, since we want those people to be at home.

Re: Coronavirus

I really, really do not understand why are people buying toilet paper when diarrhea is not one of the symptoms. Is it really that big secret that one can also simply wash their trunk with water in case paper would really run out?

On a more serious note, have started to feel quite bad for older people, was doing some shopping today and there were many lonely looking older gentlemen filling their trolleys with random food, some looking quite lost.

Felt myself like such a ####, also buying a bit more food while in comparison, I have almost nothing to worry about (well I do tiny bit but risks is 50 times smaller).
Was thinking, couldnt they order for example army guys to deliver food for people above 70, just give them a number they could call and food would be delivered to their door without any extra cost. Would signup to do the deliveries myself if there would be an option (fully protected of course as do not want to make anyone sick in case I unknowingly have the virus) so in case anyone know any voluntary service like this, let me know.

Czech borders are closed, too. Only opened for incoming patriots, they are being tested. Tonight at 8pm all the restaurants, cafes, bars and canteens closed as well, until further notice. 141 cases reported so far.

Not sure how serious you are with the toilet paper comment, but I think people are stocking up for various reasons -- not only because so many other people are also stocking up (and they don't want to be left without), but also because if someone has to quarantine themselves, then they're going to need a two-week supply of food and toilet paper, etc. at home unless they have people who can bring it to them. I'm sure some people are also worried about having to potentially wait in long lines outside the grocery stores.

I was just watching a podcast that someone sent me where an American public health scientist and infectious disease expert is discussing the virus, and he was reading an email from a physician at one of Milan's main hospitals. The physician was saying that they're seeing an "alarming number" of people in their 40's being admitted into the hospital with the virus, who are in very, very bad shape (quote "horrible cases"). And so the infectious disease expert then said that we need to stop thinking of this as being "only an old person's disease." But even with that said... I also feel so bad for elderly people right now, and especially when I see them in the grocery stores, knowing that they would be safer if they could stay at home.

Verbier is definitely closed, my WhatsApp keeps updating. Flying to the UK in the morning, will collect my wife & her car, cross the channel in the evening. My wife is concerned we will be stuck in different countries, she was working this week in the UK for a conference on Saturday & Sunday that has been cancelled.
We're definitely closed her, and they are saying that it's the whole of Switzerland, as Odile said earlier. So we're going to close up and go back to France fora few weeks

United Sates declares a state of National Emergency.

In true American fashion: Americans will now have coronavirus drive-thru testing available.

It appears some of the drive-thru testing will be conducting in Walmart's parking lots... Gosh thats a nice warm feeling.

Are you referring to Montgomery County? That is where we have a home and my daughter and son who live there just sent us a link regarding closures there. The governor states that Montgomery County is the epicenter of the virus which has afflicted PA - hence the closures!
That's the one...my parents and a sister & family still live there. Where are you from/where is your home? I originally hail from Lower Gwynedd.
