I just wish my kids were young enough to do that. Now I've nothing to stop me going full meltdown... (half-serious).

It's just to stop the darn cross border shoppers buying up all the toilet paper.

Who’s the chick with the pink shoulder shawl and large diamond earrings that keeps nodding?
She might be one of the few people around Trump atm who actually do know what they are talking about.

Pence sounds like a genius when he gets to speak right after Trump.
I was just thinking the exact same thing (although I did miss Trump's statements at the beginning). Pence might be a religious nut, but he does come across as being so much more sane and intelligent than Trump.

Rumours (nothing more) that France moving to total lockdown tomorrow. Anyone heard anything about that?

They laugh with you, put you to bed and weep when you crash?

They said on the local news (or maybe it was French, can't remember) how the generation gap is closing in the time of crisis. Young ones were protesting asking older generation to help fight the climate crisis, now we are asking young generations for help with the virus crisis even if they aren't the most affected. <3

Re: Coronavirus

If there is a total lock-down here, and only pharmacies and grocery stores are open, should we expect long lines outside the grocery store? For some reason, I haven't seen much about that in terms of what's been happening in Italy (if there have been long lines there). Also, I assume that gas stations would stay open? No idea what to expect.

Re: Coronavirus

In case it wasn't posted yet, Netherlands shut down all bars, restaurants (home delivery allowed tho) sportclubs, coffeeshops etc.. at 18:00 today, the announcement came just little earlier.

Almost instantly very long lines at every coffeeshop in the country.

No, it actually all sort of calmes down when a lock-down becomes active. Lots of people at home, so we can do groceries every time of the day so the after work rush or Saturday rushes are over and people also start realising that it is a disease and not some Atombombe that forces us a year 30ft underground and that food supplies and such still happen like there is no problem at all and uncertainty makes place for knowing how the next weeks will be. Also we don't flock together at the major supermarkets like yesterday happened but people just all go to their local store.

All those pictures of empty racks make it seem al so bad, but allow the supermarkets 24hrs of restocking and almost everything is stocked up again.

Re: Coronavirus

What worries me the most is definitely not death (I'm still young, and active, and mostly healthy), but the aftermath it brings to Europe.

We've seen what EU has done (basically nothing) and Germany even locked masks from Italy. What's more to come? The deepest problems of EU has never been brought to surface like today. And what will Switzerland do without a stable EU?

Switzerland did fine before the EU existed and will do fine if it would ever stop to exist.

The EU as for integrating all countries in one nation, that is a dream of a small minority of lefties, the rest knows that it is a big joke and that European nationality will never beat the national feeling a country brings.

I'm sure that if this is all over that the EU will try to give this all a turn in their favour and will try to pull even more power towards itself.

The Switzerland who did fine back then is not what we have today.
It's hard to believe the Switzerland, who had bunkers and iodine tablets and survived WW2, doesn't even have enough respirators for its medical staff.
Accept it or not, Europe as a whole doesn't behave as expectation goes. People change.

Not a single country had enough respirators, what does that have to do with the post of you to which I responded?

Could be they are mixing up Sweden and Switzerland...... Sweden is doing nada to control the virus. It apparently has to do with equality. Which makes sense from a country with feministic snow cleaning.

like i said i was suprised with the comments. as are many swiss here. and yes some did joke about the sweden thing...surely Singapore govt can't make such a mistake?

I don't think that's the kind of mistake a Singaporean would make.
Switzerland has one of the highest infection rates per capita so it seems relatively relaxed considering.

we will see soon whether scandanivian countries are on the restricted list. I can only think one reason why switzerland was pointed out. Our latest infected cases have been travellers who had been to germany, uk and switzerland. so as sweden has not hit the stats yet it could be they are doing it case to case

Aren't respirators supposed to be strategically reserved? The news of nurses having to use the same respirator repeatedly was not long ago.
Please, read and think before you post a reply.
