I´d be interested as well, so far the company expects us to be in the office. Even if you are high risk due to an existing condition......
Crazy they haven’t allowed you to work from home, or if the work can’t be done at home... they aren’t exploring options with you.

There was a note I saw last night around companies must accomodate parents with the school closures... and there parenting responsibility.

Popped into a local SPAR, good selection of fresh fruit, veg and meats. Apart from Toilet Paper, everything else looked available. At checkout-till people were keeping distance. Keep Calm and Carry On vibe.

Geneva is the latest canton to announce it is going into special measures.
As from 6pm this evening all non essential commerce will be closed..
And the communiqué specifically includes prostitution.

Re: Coronavirus

The coop which is located in Planpalais, Geneva is madness.

No pasta since Saturday, no tuna, virtually no tins, now some people are just stripping the shelves of the chicken, meat, all the eggs have gone.

Not panicking and most probably this is isolated but some people are being a bit selfish ...

Sure it will be re-stocked tomorrow as not much seems to have come today.

My daughter who recently turned 14 needs some sanitary towels, there are none didn't expect to be facing that one.

Try a gas station.. they usually sell them there. And if that doesn't work, try an online pharmacy, like mcdrogerie.ch. They have fast shipping (one day or so), and they have them on there.

3 deaths announced in Basel Stadt, BAG haven't updated the daily figures at lunchtime so something must be up.

From the Baselland CoronaVirus website page:

Daily bulletin coronavirus: 144 confirmed cases in the canton of Basel-Stadt

  • 03/16/2020 (13:15)
  • Press release
  • Health Department

As of Monday, March 16, 2020, 12 noon, the Basel-Stadt health department reports a total of 144 positive cases of people residing in the canton of Basel-Stadt. Three other people died as a result of a Covid-19 infection (coronavirus).

As of today, the canton of Basel-Stadt registers four deaths at 12 noon. The last deceased are two women and one man. They were all over 70 years old and had pre-existing conditions. All three were hospitalized at the University Hospital Basel. Councilor Lukas Engelberger expresses his condolences to the families.
In the canton of Basel-Stadt, tests of suspected cases from other Swiss cantons and countries close to the border are carried out in addition to the tests carried out by the cantonal residents. So far, the tests of around 270 people have been positive (including the 144 Basel cases).
For older people at home and in old age and care centers, the health department has put together additional tips for precautionary measures and behavior.

Hints: As of today, March 16, 2020, the Basel-Stadt health department will publish a daily bulletin each afternoon on the current epidemiological situation in the canton of Basel-Stadt and current special events.
We would like to point out that the number of positive cases according to www.bag.admin.ch can differ.

Now I may well be wrong, but I thought that was about 10 people less than a week ago?

I had read that Disney World had closed (or maybe it's just that it's going to be closing). I think that there are still a lot of people in the US who aren't taking this very seriously right now because it hasn't hit close enough to home for them yet. It's just something they're reading about in the news, etc. and maybe there hasn't been any confirmed cases near them at this point. It will be different, I think, in another few weeks once the reality of it really sinks in. I sometimes go on US news sites and have seen some people commenting there that the virus is some of kind of hoax or conspiracy to try to keep Trump from being re-elected. It's weird.
It closed after business hours, Sunday Mar 15th.

So those plants suddenly stop growing? Or do the Spanish suddenly eat 3 times as much? Did trucks run out of fuel?

Food production and supply chain had not been effected yet and at this moment there is no reason to assume it will. Stop shedding nonsense that upsets people.
OK, sorry if I upset you, Edwin. You don't have to use that tone and those words, you know.

At 9 a.m. in my local Coop, which is pretty big, they barely had some "leftovers". A few tired oranges, a few bags with vegetables, nothing much (nothing much fresh I said), really. They all promised they'll work in the weekend to ensure a full shop.
I don't know what to say, I assume that with all these changes and measures there will be some problems in this area, with the products that we import from certain countries e.g. Italy and Spain. I din't say/mean all types of food. As I do have trust in the Swiss.
We'll see. I hope you are right, just so you know. But please, before getting angry and snotty, take a look at the shelves in the big and small stores.
Thanks.
