Parks will be closed and it's strongly suggested NOT to go outside for anything but groceries and work.
Dont generalize. IT depends where you live! Either in the centre of the city where it would be logical not to hang around outside ,or outside of the city where there are forests to go for a walk and obviously no risk to anyone.

Parks? What's that? There are only farms around here.

Re: Coronavirus

Today's score has been posted at worldometers.info.

It seems low.

Maybe they were holding off until after the state of emergency decision.

Where are they hiding the "Serious, Critical" numbers? I am assuming that at least those who died passed through from confirmed, to "Serious, Critical". Or were they all found on the street?

Switzerland
Total 2,353
Today +136
Deaths 18
Today +4
Total Recovered 4
Active 2,331

Re: Coronavirus

This is not a lockdown

They're slowing down society to try and slow down the spreading of the virus but it all depends on how the population cooperates and stays at home as much as possible. It's not a quarantine, Italy style. You're still free to go about as you like, but you should change your lifestyle to be at home from now as much as possible, not wandering around, even if it's in big empty spaces. Seniors and people with existing illnesses / fragile health must confine themselves at home.

In case someone finds it useful, I came across this LinkedIn blog post (in German) about "Homeschooling in the age of Coronavirus". It's moderately useful: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/homes...DWCVYBsQ%3D%3D

Re: Coronavirus

As a food retailer and bar owner, this is going to be a very difficult time for me and my staff. Right now I have no idea how it will go. But I think I'll go for a few beers at my bar now, last orders so to speak!.

And I just found this, a source of info and news in English about Corona in CH

Re: Coronavirus

Hi all,

Anyone have any info for work at home parents? I have been asked to let my employer know how much I am actually able to work at home with my kids around. Can someone clarify for me what the implications of that might be?

I get that if I work less than contracted, that they would probably pay me less? I have tried to find alternate care but everything is closed, and all those who could help are older/immunocompromised, or still have to go to work. I will take this week to figure out what is a reasonable number of working hours given my circumstances.

Thanks in advance for any links, much appreciated. All the best to everyone.

I seem to work for the most strange company..... I can do home office, have all the equipment.... but still this needs to be approved by the VP who is totally against home office. So will have that discussion with him tomorrow

Do people realize what is going on?

Maybe he figures since everyone else is doing home office and staying off public transport, you can come in!

Re: Coronavirus

All public and private gatherings are now banned ACROSS the country. This supersedes all Cantonal decisions on this, so Vaud's 10 person limit is now caduc.

Traffic across the border nationwide is down 28% and in Tessin today was down 58% (88% over the weekend).

And yes that increase of 136 seems suspiciously low to me. But then they're not testing anyone they don't consider seriously ill of the virus. Who knows what's happening at homes of people who live alone or those who don't speak one of the five national languages? We're not even told how many people have been quarantined at home, so we're basically being lied to on real numbers. The fact that all 4 hospital battalions and the 5 sanitary companies have been called up for duty to assist the Cantons and that the Army's pharmacy is now available to the Cantons as well tells me plenty about what's going on.

Look in the US, since yesterday anyone who wants a test can drive to a Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens and get tested in the parking lot. We're not seeing anything remotely close to that here, and no partnership with our pharma companies.

Oh and hotels in VS will have to remain open, although individual owners can choose to close.

Noth ''not wandering around, even if it's in big empty spaces.'' ''Seniors and people with existing illnesses / fragile health must confine themselves at home.''

why oh why? Why can't I take the dog out to the woods where I won't meet anyone? Where on earth it the logic or rationale of that?

How does it feels being lied to on the real numbers? Do you have other numbers?

Transparency of Swiss authority (especially in VD) has been on par with the Iranian one during this health crisis.

Even with 300+ official (and many many more for sure) cases in VD we have no information from authorities which parts, which communes are affected. This is beyond belief.

A 4th world country - Macedonia, has 15 cases of the virus, 10 of which are from the same village, the government instantly put in Marshal law with the army to confine the movement in this village.

Here in VD we have absolutely idea what is going on

We are currently abroad until next week, must we return to Switzerland immediately or can we keep to our original plans?

Thanks.

Re: Coronavirus

Some personal experience travelling over the weekend, On Saturday morning I flew from Geneva to Birmingham (UK) on the first flight of the day with EasyJet, the plane was SPOTLESS! Being an Easyjet plus customer I can choose a premium seat for free so I selected an empty row so had 3 seats to myself. On Saturday Afternoon I drove to France via Euro tunnel & stayed in a Hotel in Calais, dinner as normal. During Dinner Macron said all restaurants must close, so we ate the buffet breakfast in our room. Drive through France uneventful, I avoided crossing into CH on my way to Chamonix, the roads were quiet & take away food available everywhere.

Today all bars are closed, however outside people are sitting with their own drinks

You're still ok until they announce any further measures. All Swiss residents are called to return to the country asap though.

To Belgianmum and Greenmount, and anyone else who has thought of me, my sincere thanks.

My husband and I have quickly indulged in the same behaviour EdwinNL and his wife do once the kids are in bed (crying in case you are wondering) but will keep you informed of any further developments if we hear from our son.

Advised to come home because transport, like flights, are drying up, and they could get stranded with no way to get back.
Might suit some people on holiday in say the Carribean. Chance of a lifetime.
