Re: Coronavirus

In the light of the hand sanitizer shortage I found some sort of substitute. It's readily available at Coop, or at least was, when I did all my shopping 2 weeks ago. The wipes contain methylisothiazolinone which is a biocide. In the long run, it's not considered to be a healthy option but at present times, they're still better than the virus. What I usually do is wipe my hands and then rinse them off with water.

ps: Look what Corona did to my dog's face, she used to be a Greyhound.

Are you suggesting that someone should have noted some sort of relationship between two viruses named SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2?

That's preposterous.

Re: Coronavirus

Does anyone have any idea about the most updated numbers? BAG seems to stop releasing numbers since yesterday:

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...ml#-1199962081

Their number is even inconsistent with numbers from worldometers or in the local newspaper, e.g. https://interactif.24heures.ch/2020/...-carte-suisse/

Landi is still open, here in Neuchâtel at least, you can get practically anything there.
Thanks, I see the Landi near me is also open but Coop Bau and Hobby is closed.

I've noticed that too. Especially the numbers for the newly infected. It went from 800 to something absurd like 5. Mortality cases however seem to have been updated accordingly on worldometer.

Another joke.

In a group meeting with the manager we were told we could take anything from the office we need to work from home: computer screens, office supplies, etc.....when I mentioned toilet paper nobody laughed

Yep, border patrol followed orders, politicians spoke with each other, the Swiss guaranteed the goods would be handled well and ending up in health care, Germany said they wanted guarantees that stuff would not end up at black market or supermarkets. The goods have been freed are are on their way to Switzerland or have already arrived. All happy nothing going on.
yep, the booming and world famous black market in Switzerland must be stopped. By our neighbours.

I refuse to let myself be run into a panic by media et al.....

I know and am aware the topic is utterly serious and we're also taking precautious measures and follow the set guidelines by the set by the Govt.......I just want to lighten the general mood.....a chuckle here and there is balm for a worried soul !

There will be lots of surprises and the divorce rate will rise ad infinitum after Corona.

You are right, it isn't important. However, I could literally build an entire house by just going to Hornbach for the materials. I could build a crappy house by going to COOP B&H. The same can not be said for a hardware store.
I agree, to me a hardware store is a small store selling small items for DIY and stuff.

Hornbach et al are bigger than that and sell building supplies etc. I’d call those DIY stores. The Hornbach in Biel has some kind of wholesale/bulk arrangement for tradespeople so I guess it is a bit of a step up from just a DIY store.

Builder’s merchants are for tradespeople.

It is not important in the grand scheme of things and it is all just semantics but Hornbach, Jumbo etc aren’t hardware stores to me.

Re: Coronavirus

The euro football championships due to take place this summer are likely to be postponed until next year. UEFA will make the proposal to its 55 members this afternoon.
I can see the olympics suffering the same fate.

I don't have the slightest clue, maybe Blick took over BAG's external communication.

Re: Coronavirus

Out of interest, thinking about numbers infected etc..

How many you are / have been infected and what about people you actually know?

For me, two people at work confirmed. That's all.
None of my friends / neighbours know of anybody.

*it's not a loaded question, just wondering how it's affecting real people, rather than number

Re: Coronavirus

It's shocking how some people are behaving.

Someone's child's KITA was broken into and all the hand santizer etc stolen.

I know someone who forcibly had an article snatched from her hands when someone thought she was buying the last one.

That's here in Switzerland.

Meanwhile in the U.S., they're queuing to buy guns and ammunition.

A whole supermarket? That’s incredible!

Sorry, couldn’t resist although I am having a hard time trying to work out what you meant to write there.
