Breaking news....68000 dead in Italy! From....seasonal flu between 2013 and 2017!

Well I guess it's not breaking news.

This scientific study shows us how much this Corona virus is pumped and hyped up.

2013/2014 - 7027
2014/2015 - 20259
2015/2016 - 15801
2016/2017 - 24881

So almost 25000 people died from seasonal flu in Italy in 2016/2017

Corona worldwide so far less than 20000 dead. Still less than 2016/2017 ONLY IN ITALY

If this is not a hype, I don't know what is

https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...01971219303285
Now, 10,000 more dead worldwide in only three days, some hype

I know most people in the West don't like the idea of wearing masks but please read this.

On March 18, the Czech Republic (Czechia) made wearing a face mask or other mouth-covering apparel compulsory when in public. If someone has COVID19 and doesn't know it, wearing a mask reduces the chance that they'll give it to someone else.

Today, The Czech Republic (Pop 10.65M) has 2,663 COVID19 cases and11 deaths. Switzerland (pop 8.57M) has 14,076 COVID19 cases and 264 deaths.

"Your mask protects me, my mask protects you" is the slogan of the Masks 4 All campaign that is spreading across the world.

Since you're stuck indoors, now's a good time to make your own mask to wear when you go to the grocery store or pharmacy. It's to protect other people in case you have COVID19.

Questions? I'll post some helpful links in the comment section.
Remember a couple of months ago when there were all those press reports (and people on this forum) telling us how masks don’t help prevent the spread of the virus? Well it turns out that, yes in fact they do. A lot.

Putting on my conspiracy theorist hat, it does make one wonder why there was so much fake news and misinformation written about masks at the beginning of the outbreak.

Putting on my common sense hat - there were not enough masks to go around.

The few that were available needed to go to those with the virus, and to health workers.

The biggest problem with laymen without corona-virus wearing masks is firstly, they do not know how to wear them correctly and secondly, they'd probably end up infecting themselves anyway by repeatedly putting their hands to their faces to adjust their masks.
Thirdly, they wouldn't appreciate how often they would need to be washed or changed.

I don't see a conspiracy.

WHO considers 'airborne precautions' for medical staff after study shows coronavirus can survive in air

WHO is considering "airborne precautions" for medical staff after a new study showed the coronavirus can survive in the air in some settings.

The coronavirus can go airborne, staying suspended in the air depending on factors such as heat and humidity, WHO officials said.

Simple masks could help flatten the curve. We should all wear them in public.
Other solutions that can help flatten the curve are available:

Not going out unnecessarily,

Sending only one person to do the essential shopping rather than making it a family outing.

Shopping for a few days rather than going every single day with a little basket.

Elderly people shopping in the week and not on a Saturday morning.

Not having friends around for a BBQ.

I completely agree with the above points. It would be an even more effective list if you add "wear a mask in public". This would help protect those working in grocery stores, pharmacies, etc., so that we don't (potentially) infect them when one person in a family does the shopping. The masks 4 all slogan is, "My mask protects you, your mask protects me".

Do you see the army having to transport the dead away in the flu season? No! But you see that here with this virus. Mortuaries that have no place free for the dead!!

Was everything closed during flu season and were people panicking like crazy during flu season?

During flu season army didn't have to go once a week to clear hospitals because nobody from the funeral homes was going to do their job

During flu season retirement homes weren't abandoned by the employees to have their residents die in their beds because nobody was there to care for them

Once all of this madness is over hopefully we will have a clearer picture what exactly happened and to what extent panic contributed to these state of affairs

I also see this as the reason, however spreading misinformation to cover up a lack of preparation is scandalous in modern western democracies.

And the Swiss govt donated thousands of masks to the Chinese at the start in Wuhan! Why would they do that if they think masks are of no use.

And why do hospital staff wear masks in an operating theater if they are so useless!!

Only if you have allowed that in your settings (so far....). Just log in with your provider and at the data settings you can see how they can use your data.
Where would I find those settings? I went in and checked, found nothing (I'm with wingo). Can you give me advise here, please?

Mr Wishes said he read an article that the Swiss authorities have been doing some tracking via cell phone data, and that's how they can tell where some of the outbreaks started.

Maybe they checked my phone and saw I haven't left the house except once, and figure I'm behaving.
In the press conference Berset said, they got anonymized data, only one person in BAG has access to them so far and they can only see crowds appearing. According to that, no, they did not know whether you specifically are staying at home.

I'm interested in those settings roegner mentioned though.

I arrived from Newark/New York a week ago to Zurich on a packed flight. I was not tested or asked any questions. Now NY is the hotspot of the world, and I would have thought someone from government would contact me to make sure I'm staying home. Nope.

It's not that hard to figure out who arrived via airplanes in the last few weeks and track them down...is it??
Would be done in the case of a terrorist operation or similar, but the manpower involved would be massive, and I could see that it might not be thought of as worthwhile diverting resources from other more important activities.

Another fact-free theory.
Maybe you would like to try to convince us by calculating the average number of seasonal flu deaths worldwide in 3 days and see how that compares with 10,000.
