Maybe a fitting costume for this year:

Well, it’s quite clear that he didn’t rinse under his fingernails regularly after returning from the Migros or Coop...

Approaching 80 cases in Italy, two deaths. Industrial heartlands of Lombardy about to go into quarantine, Milan university students told to stay at home. Just a normal flu!! Make sure you get your flu jab

Re: Coronavirus

Wonder if there's a chance of serious travel restrictions around Europe. We enjoy such free movement that it would hit hard.

You know crossing borders for shopping, going to work, holiday etc.. Interesting times..

Re: Coronavirus

And while South Korea went over 600 cases we now have 115 confirmed cases in Italy of which most in Lombardie, First Tessin politicians start asking for closing the borders while Milan is about to take measurements like closing all schools.

If it hits hard enough in areas we will also close off those areas meaning borders will close and public transport with stop serving in and towards those areas. I would not be surprised if Tessin closes the borders soon given how Italian numbers keep going up rapidly. Besides not being allowed to go in such area, there is also the risk of not being allowed to get out once in.

I hardly think itís worthwhile now, it would be closing stable door after the horse has bolted. Given how many cases have sprung up in northern Italy in such a short space of time, how many people commute daily into Ticino to work and the long incubation period, itís almost certain itís in Switzerland already.

True, however to get control over an epidemic virus that spreads this easily in an attempt to stop it human travel must be restricted.

Re: Coronavirus

BAG still thinks all is OK in Switzerland and it will somehow stop at the border.

No doubt, the top BAG-brass is being set up as fall-guys for this.

Nobody can be that stupid.

It has to have a visa. And if not they simply turn it away

And I think here they would need a court order if they tried to say you cant leave your house or travel.

Ten Italian towns locked down today, all near Milan.

Edit; Venice cancels Carnival...

The towns in Italy where it has sprung up are too far away for commuters.

In 2 weeks time the worse will be over, and in a month the despairing would have moved onto something else to wring their hands about, probably Trump if there's nothing else on the market.

What idiot wrote that?

Looks like the pandemic is a go! It must be in every capital city by now for sure.

You have to wonder what the impact will be on tourism this summer if the Chinese don't travel (in their previous numbers) to Switzerland.

This being Switzerland, I imagine they have contingency plans in place since the MERS and SARS outbreaks, but the authorities are taking a watch and see approach for now. If it's in Milan, odds are it's already here but there haven't been any positive tests yet.

Not just summer.

Have you been in Luzern lately? Almost feels deserted if you're used to all those groups from China whole year through.
