Hey, girl! You can just keep running around your house within 1km, but only for one hour. Then it is back inside for you. Bicycles are done. Interdit. Dog walking has now been limited to within 100m of your house.

Grocery, pharmacie shopping, you have two hours but only one person can go.

No two people in a car, ever, including small children. Only exceptions are if you are transporting someone who cannot drive to a medical appointment or taking kids to the other parent for visitation. In these circumstances, the other passenger must sit in the back seat opposite from the driver.
Wow, that's really impressive. From Bohemians to extra efficiency!

Those in quarantine in France - runners, can you do the 1km from the house a few times?
I have a 3km loop I can do staying within the 1km radius. 3 times and that's the hour gone (it is all uphill, I swear ).

36 is amount of new deaths, not amount of new cases
No, those are not new deaths. Nor sure why you would make such a claim. Just open the excel spreadsheet on the BAG website. Those are new confirmed cases with samples that were taken on March 30th.

Worldometer gets updated frequently throughout the day.
Yes, with case numbers as they have been published. And not with case numbers when the sample was actually taken as the BAG does.

Quote:

BAG releases not updated figures from previous day. See PDF, figure 1, where it lists the 30th with low numbers. This document was released today at 8am on this website.
Again, the date given in data from the BAG refers to when the sample was taken. It's quite logical that there will be a low case number for yesterday, as those samples are still being processed, measured and analyzed. That's why the total number of cases between the two sources is almost identical, but the new number of cases per day is different. One makes scientifically more sense than the other one.

i wonder how many more would die if they just let the virus spread freely and get everybody infected quickly and then clean up afterwards versus what currently is being done.
I think that's what authorities don't want, because they fear that letting it go freely will result in many more deaths and the healthcare system can't handle it.

...we just don't know if herd-immunity will be established and if so for how long with this specific virus.
I agree, and hopefully there are folks working on studies right now to try and pinpoint this information. On the "upside" for now the virus doesn't seem to be mutating very fast. As one article I read put it "it doesn't need to mutate, it spreads plenty fast enough"

I made that claim since 36 was also the amount of newly reported deaths at the time you made the post.

This is also the reason why I look at what the cantons report and don't care what BAG reports since it is not showing current situation but more gives an insight in the past.

We live on the main drag into Zurich, the road the emergency services use because it doesn't have any trams or busses. The last couple of days have been a little quieter than usual, but tonight's been really busy with ambulances.

Re: Coronavirus

Authorities in one Russian region got creative: they've established a phone number to which you're supposed to send a text ("Exit") if you want to go out of your home. You then receive an SMS with a unique code which is your authorization to go outside for up to 60 minutes, after which the code expires. If you get caught on the street with an expired code you get a fine. You can request no more than two such codes per 24 hr period. Oh and the code is only valid within 1 km radius.

Re: Coronavirus

Excellent interview with Michael Osterholm, a leading epidemiologist/infectious disease expert, regarding Coronavirus and its implications. This interview took place on Monday March 30th as a follow up to the Osterholm's interview with Joe Rogan two weeks ago (also interesting!)

PS...I am a huge fan of Dr Peter Attia who is very knowledgeable, articulate and curious. This interview is definitely worth a listen...

Quote:
Cherry Picking
An informal fallacy where selected evidence is presented that supports the position of the argument, while contrary evidence is withheld. This is done in an attempt to make the argument more persuasive to an audience. Moreover, the greater the volume or strength of the evidence withheld dictates how fallacious the argument is. Regardless, if one engages in cherry picking of any degree, the argument is rendered bad as an incomplete world-view has been presented, which doesn't permit an accurate conclusion to be reached.

Not on this thread.

Meantime Baselstadt new cases for the last 6 days:
39, 29, 39, 38, 12, 7
Baselstadt have made a correction for yesterday, so now the last 7 days look like this:

39, 29, 39, 38, 12, 36, 34 (today)

Pretty flat, but no 'Hi ho, Hi ho...' just yet.
