| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Italy has asked EU to hurry up and issue corona bonds. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Of course it has. And next will be Spain, then France, and a bunch of others.
The EU is done now anyway though. Actually I guess that makes it even worse cause who will pay?
I really am not going to bother to explain one of the most basic of economic processes. If you don't understand that "just printing more money" is not an option, I'm afraid I can't help you. | | | | | Spain, France Italy and 6 other EU countries (not specified) already demand those bonds, while Germany and other north european states (not specified) reject "such communitisation of depts". See video, German
Is it a good or a bad thing that EU does not surprise me in the least?

(full disclosure: above statements are not based on a scientific evaluation, but instead anecdotal).

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | You argument is that the lock down is slowing down the virus - I'm proving you wrong with a concrete example. | | | | |
V___ you seem to believe anything you find online. Remember each and every country is "testing" and sharing numbers differently. The spread of this virus is only starting to happen (across the planet, not only in little safe Switzerland).

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | By the looks of it by the time we start rebuilding the economy those saved from the measures will die anyway
"Imperial College London modelling, used to inform government, has suggested 500,000 could have died by August in the UK if the virus was left to rip through the population.
It also warned the government's previous strategy to slow the spread by asking those with symptoms to self-isolate and shield the most vulnerable could have led to 250,000 deaths.
Now, it is hoped the lockdown will limit deaths to 20,000.
But that does not mean 480,000 lives are being saved - many will die whether or not they get the virus. Every year, about 600,000 people in the UK die. And the frail and elderly are most at risk, just as they are if they have coronavirus.
Nearly 10% of people aged over 80 will die in the next year, Prof Sir David Spiegelhalter, at the University of Cambridge, points out, and the risk of them dying if infected with coronavirus is almost exactly the same." https://www.bbc.com/news/health-51979654 | | | | | Czech media are now using "died with Covid19" vs "died of Covid19".

| | Re: Coronavirus
It was a day full of surprises out here in the sticks .... loads of human activity amongst tenants, a rather high amount of visitors from outside, granny and grandpa came to visit but this time no balcony-street distance. Nope, let's have a cuddle and an extended laugh with the kids.
For a moment I thought I missed something but then I dropped in here and immediately knew we are still not supposed to move or laugh.
On the other hand for the first time I saw a neighbour with a mask. Over her mouth yet not covering her nose. Looked rather weird.

| | Re: Coronavirus | Quote: | | | | | Further, the large majority of those who pass away from this virus (or underlying conditions made worse by it) are > 75. How many of those are in the active workforce? | | | | | People come first always. They're the workforce, business leaders and consumers. The economy is screwed without them, and I'm not down with this Logan's Run way of thinking. If the virus predominantly affected under 18s, would you still be saying' how many are active in the workforce'? Really?

So there was NO mix up with e-mails - Johnson clearly and deliberately refused the offer of 30.000 respirators from the EU. Even the gutter Press is now turning against him and his fellow clowns in the Cabinet + Cummings.
Edit: 50.000 - yes, let that sink in and remember it.

Really? | | | | | the topic was the feasibility and economic consequences of extended shutdowns. So yes, which group is statistically most affected from a health perspective matters.
Also, do you think you are not part of the big bad “economy”? Who’s bringing you your mail, delivering food, providing you with internet access, to name a few? Ah yeah, “the economy”
