I worry about the incidence of anxiety and depression, and people not accessing the care they need for chronic conditions.
That's the bizarre thing about all these measures: in order to protect 1 or 2 percent of the world population, you might send 50% into poverty and make sure all other that need help don't need the support and care they need.

Pretty sad when half the world pleads poverty after not being in business for only a month.

That is actually something which really surprised me, how so many companies were/are operating at a pecuniary limit.

For many of them, if they get a sniff of free government money they're going to claim it anyway.

Where did you get 1 or 2 percent btw? Official numbers show a "slightly" different reality.

I think you got it wrong either way: while hospitals and doctors are busy treating corona patients, the rest of patients are clearly neglected. That was the biggest lie in all this affair - that these measures are taken to protect only some small groups of "vulnerable" people. Perhaps doctors fighting with this disease could portray you a different story, but I am not sure you are willing to accept the sad truth.

It appears that Liechtenstein has handled the situation even better than Switzerland but I'm sure they aren't so smug about it. Thankfully most of the Swiss that I associate with aren't stereotypical asshats like some are.

Re: Coronavirus

Spain bought 150 Respirators in China, and while they where in Ankara for an overlay the Turkish government seized them. Diplomacy has up to now not led to results to get the respirators to Spain.

(Maybe Spain as a thank you can send some weapon shipments to the Kurds, it is the kind of negotiating the Turkish understand)

The corona virus is of course also the perfect excuse for any bad run business or project.

...I don't get it. Is it that difficult to comply with some rules that would help us all get through this crisis? It's becoming more and more clear that people are irremediably stupid and selfish. Not only here...just to be clear on that. It's painful to watch this show.

This situation is really showing the true fabric of some people and businesses. Some are seeing the stress testing of their business model really put through it's paces in unprecedented economic conditions. Quick thinkers and entrepreneurs are rising to the challenge and spotting gaps in production, support and logistics. Whilst all of this is an unwelcome learning curve for many, it's still a valuable one.

Aside... 2 weeks before the UK government began talking about mortgage and rent holidays, I emailed the tenants of our UK house to offer a 3 month non-repayable rent holiday to them. Their response was... "Thank you very much for the offer and it is appreciated. At the moment, we don't require a rent holiday but will let you know if our situation changes." I'm impressed and the offer remains firmly on the table.

Re: Coronavirus

It doesn’t really look like that the pandemic curve is flattening out. Statistically speaking, up to date we have almost 1 in 430 people being infected. Scary to even go outside or shopping in one’s neck of woods

Given that there is currently no vaccine available and the likelihood of all of those people having been infected by the virus and built up immunity to it is close to zero I think we can discount this as an option.
