As you can see here's one of those 'gentlemen of the road' taking suitable precautions while plying his
trade back in the 18th Century. So it's still business as usual for Highwaymen.

All it take is the Easter weekend of hanging out and the numbers would turn in a week. I think Swiss know that where we are now took weeks, but can be gone too fast if discipline relaxes now.
I am noticing the relaxing already now, more whole families in Migros, groups of kids and teenagers by themselves roaming the store, which I haven't seen since restrictions came into effect. Even less attempt at distancing.

new infections yesterday jumped to 1000

It is not an error, it is a different method of counting. Worldometer counts how many cases got confirmed today by Swiss cantonal authorities regardless of the reference lab which is their higher number, Swiss federal government only counts them as today if they have been confirmed by Geneva today.

How often does this have to be explained in this topic?
The contradiction is between what the call their source and the cases they actually count, not between them and others. Either what they call their source isn't (entirely) or there's an error.

That's what i wrote too in my initial post: the data differs from the source.

It's obviously some advanced kind of statistics that only few understand

Re: Coronavirus

It’s generally wise to use the same source of information each time (contrary to what most outlets do and yes, I tracked it for a while). I would suggest to trust what BAG publishes.

Re: Coronavirus

I still stick to my idea that regardless of the daily numbers, what counts is wether it's under control and manageable.. Are the hospitals flooded, do we have food, are bodies piling up in the street, do we have sudden mass poverty..

I think for the most part CH is managing this well on all fronts.. The economic aspect will take time to know but the for the rest, it's under control.

I was at my GP a couple of days ago (for a sore back, not covid) .. They told me that in our region at least (between Lausanne and Geneva) none of the medical facilities are near to capacity, they have ample supplies, plenty of space, no concerns and it's improving.

Be optimistic, I think we'll see a staggered return to normality by end of the month.

Would not trust a website which does not link back to the very original data sources.

Here a website which aggregates all the numbers released by the cantons: https://www.corona-data.ch/

It is one of the most transparent (data and history can be seen on GitHub) and up to date. The original data can be found on these websites: https://github.com/daenuprobst/covid...ster/README.md

And then we will be complaining that we miss the more sedate pace of life and time spent with the kids

German news (ARD) today:
Germany started letting fly in people from Eastern Europe to help harvesting asparagus. Totally 80'000 people will be allowed in for this.

I will not comment that. Have your own thoughts about it.

Alternative is to let it rot on the fields and get shortage of those things in the stores while the farmer loses money.

Projects to enforce local people to do the job enforced by a punishment on their welfare check were a huge waste of time since people just refused to show up.

In Switzerland officially you can be forced to accept other work when getting money for reduced hours, but c'mon do we really think that we're going to force people to work on the fields here? And even if we did who would really show up..

well now even in your ling it says 785 new cases, and growing. just wait, it'll get closer to 1000.

doesn't matter the exact figure anyway, it is clearly a jump and certainly no sign of winding down as of yet (contrary to what you wrote a couple of days ago)
