MWST is much lower here than in the surrounding countries plus electric/electronic goods are lower priced than in the surrounding countries so no reason for other prices to be double here.
And how does your salary compare to those in the surrounding countries?

The Swiss have released the ramp up dates.

3 steps, 27th April, 11th May, 8th June

Book those hairdresser appointments now!
As a girl who still needs to keep the face and figure in shape it’s gonna be a total maintenance overhaul with a full service thrown in: peeling ,waxing, Botox, extensions, colouring, nails etc.

This is CH. You don't have to do all that painful and expensive stuff here.

Indeed, if someone is really short in cash there's Outlet Migros, and many other outlets. Not clear to me why people expect Coop quality at Denner price.

I guess Aarhus university professor in Denmark has been reading me on EF too much

"We should never have pressed the stop button.
The Danish health service is in control of the situation. And the total shutdown was a step too far."

They don't. They expect Edeka quality at Edeka prices (or Carrefour quality at Carrefour prices). For most items, Coop quality = Edeka or Carrefour quality. For fresh vegetables, Edeka/Carrefour quality >>> Coop quality. For meat, Coop quality is generally high but can be matched elsewhere, but the Coop prices are absolutely prohibitive.

This has been done to death. And no, not everybody is a CHF 120k executive in Switzerland.

In other news, Japan goes into a nationwide lockdown until May 6th. Similar to CH, staying at home is recommendation, not enforced. https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200416_38/

Nor does everyone on EF live in a border zone where it's easy to pop over and buy cheaper groceries and household items.

Re: Coronavirus

I do wonder what the % of EF members are over 65?

Been discussing the likely possibility that over 65s will be asked to stay in lockdown for much longer than the rest of the population. And I can tell you theose over 65s are not happy. Many are lonely as it is, isolated even without - widowed or on their own - and others just cannot bear to not see their children and grandchildren, or friends, go out for lunch or to the theatre, etc, etc.

One 80+ year old, recently widowed- told me if that was to be the case, he saw only 2 options: civil disobedience or EXIT. He told me he has not got 1 year to waste - and to not live in order not to die- is just nonsensical. I agree.

120K for an executive? INKSPE*!

The media has made such a panic that most people think corona virus is a death sentence. It isn't. Many reports show that people in the risk groups have 80-90% chances of beating the virus. Not everyone from risk groups that catches it dies.
